| Civilians | Has anyone seen a service offered to provide support for people who resell webhosting? There are many hosts that sell reseller accounts - where you can resell your space - set someone up with a cpanel, etc. Some people may want to do this - but are not interested in - or able to provide support (for problems on the server, etc). I guess the support may be a narrow as alerting the main host - and repeating their answer to the reseller's customer - or a support service that helps with cgi, etc. Would there be a demand for a service like this? |

I haven't seen any like this but I'm sure they probably exist. The overhead cost of providing support is about $15.00/hr no matter how you slice it. IMO a company cannot provide support for resellers customers and make money but that doesn't stop some of the bottom feeders from promising it and being unable to deliver it because the math doesn't work out, especially if you are providing web design and script troubleshooting support for all of your resellers' customers. There are outsourced support companies which will do support for $1.50-$3.00 per ticket. The quaility of support they provide is negligable and usually ends up in customers leaving unless you can find a good company and those are hard to come by and always charge in the $3.00 range because mathematically that is what it costs to provide the support and leave the company a bottom line profit. |
