Fails W3 validation, background colour doesn't appear in FireFox...

Could you honestly imagine what the web would be like if there was no
baseline standard or guidelines?

I know mark-up validation may seem like an exercise in pointless
semantics, but they serve as a useful benchmark - and as an essential
debugging tool, never mind the accessibility and compatibility benefits.

You're under no compulsion to make your site absolutely compliant, but
any variance from the spec (as per Google, Yahoo etc), should be an
effect to *increase* accessibility and usability, rather than a result
of ineptitude or laziness.

I can, people would start using it to sell all manner of things, stars,
grains of sand.....pixels......oh!
