Default New web site that I would like you to help me with

Hi all

I was just wondering if some of you might have a look at my new mobile
phone comparison site and give me some critical feedback? Basically
anything you would change or improve and other features you might want
on there let me know. Also I do not have access to a mac with IE on so
if someone could see if it breaks in that that would be great!

The site is http://www.MobileChecker.com and compares over 20,000
mobile deals every day across 30 online stores.

Cheers in advance!

Andy

Looks nice, the code appears to be error-free and the site is
user-friendly.

However, I think you should either internationalize your site or make it
clear that you are only serving one geographic area.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have "The leading UK Mobile Phone Site.." in the page title and
everything is in pounds sterling but I would like to go international
at some point but first things first! :-)

Cheers again

Andy

A quich check with Lynx suggests that you expect users to already have an
intimate knowledge of the features of every phone and know exactly what
phone they want.

If I didn't know one phone from another, it appears that I would have to
look up every model separately to find out which deal was the best for me
(and I still wouldn't know what features were supported/unsupported).

How about adding a lookup for the best deals using *any* phone.

How about a features comparison list for phones?
-- memory?
-- durability?
-- keyboard design? (can accidental bumps dial out?)
(I've read of accidental bumps to a phone in someone's pocket
summoning emergency services (911 or 999 or similar))
-- moisture resistance (in case a user is caught in the rain)?
-- screen (resolution?, colour?, backlight?)
-- battery life?
-- replacement battery cost?
-- speech enabled? (Can a blind person use it?)
-- cost of speech software if available?
-- can the phone account be easily transferred to another carrier?
-- etc.
-- etc.
-- etc. (including a lot of other important things I never thought of
since I have never had a portable phone)

Hi.
Yes. I am getting a lot of blank / white space around the edges of your
table. Or if you have used Divs as it looks like you have from looking
at your source code.
Make them 100% in both with and hight. That will mean your site will
look as it should on all screne resolutions.
Then it will be good. Your site is good though, you have done well with
it.

Thanks for the comments Chaddy.

Do you mean there is a lot of blank space outside the main area of the
site (i.e. not lots of space IN the price comparisons etc)?

If so this is a conscious decision to have a fixed width layout for
people that still have 800 x 600 resolution. I have used 100% widths
for sites before but on some BIG resolutions they end up looking just
silly so I opted for the fixed width design here.

If this is not what you meant then can you post a url to the page you
are talking about and tell me which parts i.e. where the blank space is
on that particular page?

Many thanks

Andy

Yes. I was talking about the fixed with issue But if that is what you
want then that is fine with me!
I have a screne resolution of 1024x768 so the site has some blank space
around the edges of the main site content, around the boarder of the
table.

That's fine. I don't mind helping out.
