The post that began this thread IS an Internet worm knows as 'Swen'
(identified by Symantec as W32.Swen.A@mm ).

The 'Swen' worm harvests email addresses from infected systems AND from
posts to Usenet newsgroups. The worm mails fake Microsoft messages with the
106 KByte infective package attached to harvested email addresses and posts
the message with the 106 KByte infective package to Usenet newsgroups.
Harvested email addresses are used as fake 'From' addresses.
