It was still in my killfile. His IP changes much less than his handle.

The server's XOVER database does not include fields that contain IP:

<paste XOVER exchange from telnet session with server>

xover 359048
224 359048 fields follow
359048 Tired of Google Groups archiving "pr" <pr@pr.com>
Sun, 25 Sep 2005 20:26:20 -0600 <d%IZe.67$5u3.1344@news.uswest.net>
1732 17 Xref: uni-berlin.de alt.www.webmaster:359048

</paste>

Thus, to filter on a header that includes his IP requires use of XHDR
command:

<paste XHDR exchange from telnet session with server>

xhdr NNTP-Posting-Host <d%IZe.67$5u3.1344@news.uswest.net>
221 0 NNTP-Posting-Host header of article <d%IZe.67$5u3.1344@news.uswest.net>.
<d%IZe.67$5u3.1344@news.uswest.net> 151.118.0.21

</paste>

And this is "expensive" filtering, because it requires a separate
request for XHDR headers. On a dialup, that's very time consuming and
not acceptable. So that's not an option for some of us.

Okay.
I have no idea about telnetting with a newsserver (my telnet
experience doesn't go further than changing a setting in my router).
My filter gui in Dialog lets me filter on anything that's in the
headers. I'm guessing "xhdr" is included in what I call "the headers"?

Its like Clint Eastwoods, they make their own justice, start talking about KKK killfies,
then change the topic, and forget. But, its OK. I can take it.

Hunting flies is the new game. Four little Clint Eastwoods down the toilet. Goodbye
little ones. Flush, flush, down the drain, down the toilet drain, merrily merrily merrily merrily
flush them down the drain. Four little big ones, I'll flush again you little Clint Eastwoods.
You'll find plenty of food in your new home.
