| Civilians | Hi, Finally have Road Runner broadband. The installation went well and the tech was informative. During "authorization" he said I got a good IP Address. I know what the definition of IP Address is: the computer's location. But can someone tell me what he meant? What determines if an IP address is "good" or not? -- Summer (no valid email) Thought ~ If you stop to kick at every dog that barks at you, you'll never get very far. |

| Civilians | Thanks for responding. A few more questions: I'm using MS Office Outlook 2003 with OE for newsgroup reading on a WinXP Pro machine. The newsgroups no longer work the same since installing broadband. They are mostly Intuit and Microsoft non-binary newsgroups. Only three groups download. I have a list of over 30 groups, all of which regularly downloaded on dial-up without problems. I have the correct news server address: news-server.cfl.rr.com. Tried resetting the newsgroups, but OE would stop responding each time the download reached about 32,000. Many years ago, I vaguely remember having to delete the newsgroup file and then re-download the list. But not sure this fix applies today. Don't know where the file is anyway. Any ideas how to fix this? Or is there another way to get newsgroups from other servers? Anybody know where there is a list of servers? Perhaps I should just forget about OE and set up Google to view my favorite groups? Help! | Civilians | Never mind... I just figured it out. I need to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to each group. Thanks anyway! :-) No, I'm not blonde, just having a blonde moment. -- Summer (no email) "Summer" <summer@thecabinbythelake.com> wrote in message news:zJEYe.103247$4i6.29578@tornado.tampabay.rr.co m... | Thanks for responding. | | A few more questions: I'm using MS Office Outlook 2003 with OE for newsgroup | reading on a WinXP Pro machine.
