PHP.

don't listen to anyone else they'll just sway you with...
this can do this, but this can do that, but what about this, round and round
and round you go.

just use php. look at hotscripts if you need a reason.

its like getting a girlfriend, the hardest part is deciding, now you're
ready.

PHP is simple and elegant. It also avoids any lock-ins and is definitely
here to stay. If you need to persuade yourself, just have a look at all the
hugely successful projects and pieces of software that run reliably on PHP.

Computers and girlfriends are no longer an oxymoron?

They all CAN do pretty much everything any other can do. If someone cant
pro and con it then they probably only use one. But to me php still says
linux and asp still says windows (YES I KNOW THEY ARENT LOCKED IN THAT
WAY). But I always feel that a "this is best" is better done with
questions. In this case:
what do you already know? (other languages)
what do you already know? (sidecar stuff.. databases, graphics packages)
what environment are you comfortable in?
is this to create with? or be hired to create with?
do you prefer to learn from books? examples? online help? hack it yourself?

Design for IE only, look at the web if you need a reason...

beneficial = better for career, used the most in the web development,
etc

Doing a search for jobs in my area, asp .net comes up with more jobs by
far.

Keep the jobs section for a few months and notice if the specs for the jobs
and contracts change. What you'll find is a lot of companies use the
employment wanted section to advertise for clients. i.e. next week all
those jobs will still be advertised, no one gets them! The biggest company
that did this in Brisbane was ICON! Amazing its a million population city
on the east coast of Australia with 20 pages of computer jobs every week!
100s of them and 1,000s of contracts, but in Perth, another million
population city with much the same level of industry and commerce, on the
west coast of Australia only gets a 2 lines of text in the computer section
each week! Send in your resume and the next week they add something else to
the jobs you match so you don't qualify! Really amazing they get away with,
Brisbane Unis sell a lot of IT degrees overseas so everyone wins!
