Default tracking click-throughs on direct ads

I've started using Adsense recently, and am finding it much better than
I expected. (So far it's paying enough to cover health insurance for me
and my children! Not bad for just having started.)

There are a couple of companies interested in advertising directly on
my site, though. They sell products that are highly relevant to my
topic and that would be useful for my readers. Maybe I should not
restrict myself to Adsense.

What do you think is the easiest and/or best way to track
click-throughs on individual ads that are not managed through Adsense
or other services? I'm a scientist, not a programmer, so I really don't
want to write something from scratch.

Thanks....

Just sell add space fixed price, and let people pay *before* the ad period
starts.

Amen to that. I've been burned a couple of times with people wanting to
place ads on my site and never paying. If they're unwilling to pay for
it up front, make them give you something.
