Actually, you're probably not. You only submit to directories, not
engines, and you need to do that by hand as by and large they have
individual requirements.

Really, for anyone still wanting to do site submissions to engines,
the most useful thing you can give them is an education. Not to.

There are certain rings and related sites that will accept your submission
for a link inclusion. Seek these opportunities, but never trust one of
these forms which claim to submit your site to search engines. Links will
bring crawlers to your site, not subscriptions and Web forms.

I understand you asking but Im abit biased on the subject since I have
worked on the other side of the situation. Website submission programs are
usually just efforts to force a site higher in the rankings than the site
deserves. It uses whatever the search engines latest ranking formula is
against it. That makes the formula get updated to avoid whatever tactic is
used.

So any such results are temporary at best, cheating at worst. Its better to
figure out what kindof of site the search engines are TRYING to list first,
then become that kindof site. Earn the placement legally.
But like I said, Im biased.

There are some out that just inform the search engines that you would like
to be spidered (gathered and indexed). Those arent too bad. Someone might
recommend one. But I definetly do not recommend spending any money on it

Don't bother. Spend the time usefully on looking through
<http://www.searchenginewatch.com>. That will cover which search engines
will spider your site as soon as a site in their database links to it, and
which are actually worth submitting a URL to. A site will generally be
added to the database much faster if it's spidered since there is usually
a large backlog of submitted URLs.
