Default Newbie needs help

The facts:

I need a website.

I own a domain name that I want to develop to sell kitchen goods.

I want a professional job, and it will probably involve at least 200
pictures.

I want a checkout, and a secured way to send credit card information.

It needs to be hooked up with PayPal.

I will need a link so that when people order from me, I can contact
manufacturers who drop ship, and send them the shipping info.

I need this so that I can learn how to maintain it, and add or delete
merchandise according to availability.

The questions:

How much will a website like this cost to set up?

How much will it cost a month after that?

Is this something I can do myself with available Internet providers and
automated interactive freeware programs?

Is this something that is going to take a certain amount of time a week for
me to maintain, and if it is, would it be better for me to just hire a pro
to do the whole thing and maintain it too? ( I am going to be busy with a
lot of other things.)

Thanks for any and all help you can give a clueless newbie. I have the
products, and the ideas, I just need this link to reach the public.

Please post your answers here or e mail me.

Steve

Depends. If you do it yourself, time and labor.
Outsource it, could be hundreds, to thousands.

Depends on your Hosting deal.

Yes, easily.

Once it's up, maintenance is simply updates and order processing.

Short and skinny...
1. Look at hosts that offer OSCommerce as an addon. It's usually free
http://oscommerce.com to see the how to's...

2. Make sure when shopping for a host to check their SSL options.

3. Get offers from Webmasters and Designers for quotes.

I do osC... both hosting and customization.

Steve, call me. 888-480-4638 forwards to my cell phone. My new carrier
ported my number already, and my phone doesn't get here until tomorrow, so
leave a voicemail with a phone number and I'll call back. (Or email me -
reply to this message, that's my real email address in the message headers.)

We can just host an osC shopping cart here, and you can do everything, or I
can set it up and maintain it, or we can meet somewhere in the middle. Let
me know what you want to do.

Do a Google search on website pricing.htm and you'll get some ideas.
