| Civilians | Hi everyone. I'm a web designer and I've recently finished my portfolio site. I was wondering if you could tell me if it is too cutesy or appropriate, in an vector-artsy kind of way, for a guy. I don't want to show it off just yet simply because my girlfriend has already told me that it looks too cutesy and probably more suitable for a little 12-year old girl's site. = ( http://www.davidkuo.net |

| Civilians | And lo, David Kuo didst speak in alt.www.webmaster: > I don't want to show it off just yet simply because my girlfriend has > already told me that it looks too cutesy and probably more suitable for > a little 12-year old girl's site. = ( > > http://www.davidkuo.net I think it looks nice; very clean. However it does not fit within my preferred viewport size, giving me both horizontal and vertical scrollbars. I did not look at your code. I like it - The design is simple, not over bearing and not heavy on over-detail. Ironically enough, your domain WHOIS points to a New York address, yet the site look is distinctly Canadian (Maple leafs) - Personally, I reallylike that, but then again, I'm Canadian ![]() One thing I would change, in your biography, the sentence: "Ever since 1998, I've been interested in creating webpages." Maybe it's just me, but saying that you design "web pages" for a living seems overly simple - It's never about creating just a page any more, but more of communications strategies, tools and public relations abilities. Just my opinion, of course ![]() Overall, though, I like the design. (Of course, as a perl programmer without an aesthetic bone in his body, I *wish* could design something nice like that - I do better with graphs, tables and data output ![]() -- Marc Bissonnette CGI / Database / Web Management Tools: http://www.internalysis.com Looking for a new ISP? http://www.canadianisp.com |

I rather like it. Of course I am partial to blue. It displays fine on my screen. I don't like the color changes though on the other pages... orange and green? The black wasn't so bad but it is still mildly distracting. Good luck, Heidi |

| Civilians | Thank you all for your comments! I really appreciate them! I think I might change it so that they all retain the blue background. I guess orange and green really have nothing to do there unless I completely alter the background. And I should put a photo in. It does feel faceless. |
