Wanting to expand my repertoire....Feel like trying Linux for size....

Problem is, there's so many different distro's out there....Anyone got
any opinions on which would be the best distro for a 1st time Linux
user?.....

If you want to ease yourself in, then I'd recommend Mandrake or
Fedora[1]. Unless you want to jump right in at the deep end, in which
case go for Slackware

_____
[1] Fedora has always[2] been my favourite distro.
[2] Except when Fedora was Redhat.

a) Fedora still *is* Redhat

b) If you want a Redhat derivative that isn't EOL'd quickly and will have
patches and updates available for a while, try www.centos.org instead

Cheers Dylan...Okay, next question...Where's the best place to get hold
of a Linux distro?....
I've noticed PC World selling boxed sets, but I have a sort of mental
block when it comes to buying from those crooks....

Many recommend Mandriva (was Mandrake until last month; merger with
Connectiva resulted in name change) as a good distro for beginners. I
followed that advice when I upgraded to Linux, and I'm still using it.
