Default iframe alternative for xhtml 1.0 strict?

I love iframes, but I just found out that the xhtml 1.0 strict
specification doesn't allow iframes. Is there an alternative to include
another page inside an xhtml strict document?
Thanks,

Nor does the HTML 4.01 Strict spec.

OBJECT.

Or better still, server-side includes.

* SSI
* Preprocessing
* Server side generation wtih scripting languages
(the most flexible). Learn Perl/CGI or PHP.

:s I don't want to use server-side scripting such as PHP because it would
add overhead loading the whole page. I think I'll use xmlHttpRequest. At
least it's a server-side solution with less overhead.

Er... I think PHP (or some other language) would happily serve your
pages without a big overhead. Put it this way, we have an Athlon 800mhz
server here that servers 100,000's of generated pages a day with NO
delay (instant rendering). You're more likely to introduce big slow
downs if you do it at the client.

....or when competition to run programs on the server is
huge. But if you're getting into situations where
competition to run processes is *that* heavy, you need
more servers.
