Default Shopping Cart Suggestions for a Novice?

I'm a decent though not very experienced HTML guy and have a single product
I'd like to sell. I've looked at a lot of shopping cart software, some free,
some quite expensive, all much more capable than I probably need, as I may
only have up to 5-6 products ever. My immediate problem is I can't tell the
good from the bad or even the ugly!

Any recommendations for a cheap, fairly easy to set up shopping cart?

Thanks much,
Larry

What kind of payment processor are you going to use? If you're going to use
Paypal, you can use their built-in shopping cart system fairly easily.

Yes, and she might not even need a shopping cart.

I had a customer with a really complext interchange cart that neded lots of
maintenance.
It turned out that the products were neve rbought in combination with each
other, so he
set up a simple order form that interfaced with his payment processor.

The last thing you need is a shopping cart. Use paypal, clickbank or
ccnow. They will all allow you to make a "buy it now" button or link.
They will also handle the credit card processing.

I'm currently setting up an online store with osCommerce
(www.oscommerce.com). It helps if you have a little PHP knowledge, but it
works pretty well as it is, and if you use Paypal for payments and have a
Paypal premium account already, can be up and running in no time. Sorting
out stuff like shipping rates and tax rates can take a little head
scratching, but osCommerce has a lively and helpful forum. You'll need
hosting that provides PHP and one MySQL database.

Wouldn't you say that was over-kill for a single product?
