Default Job ads here - acceptable?

Hi,

I'm looking to recruit some people and I strongly suspect some of you might
be interested (or may well have friends who are). Would anyone mind if I
post a few details here?

Cheers,

Rob.

I don't mind. It might take some time for the rest of the world to reply.

If its a legitimate job then people won't complain...

But, if you are going to be posting stuff like:
- "Check out my WebJobs Website! Find Work!"
- "Join my pyramid scheme! Be one of the guys on top who actually makes
money... not a rube on the bottom who forks out big bucks and gets nothing
in return!"
- "I need affiliates... make money selling my stuff on your website!"

In those cases (or similar) you'll probably end up reported a few times to
your ISP/webhost/usenet provider...

As well, if you are going to be asking for "free" or "volunteer" time from
people (IE: no pay involved) then I wouldn't expect much in the way of
replies other than jeers and people belittling you for making the request in
the first place.

And finally, if you are going to be asking people to refer web jobs to you
so that you can pay them a commision... that would be the same as going into
an autobody shop and asking them to refer customers to your autobody shop -
or in other words: if people had a lead for a job, why wouldn't they do it
themselves?

I just mention all this because of how you worded your request "some of you
might be interested (or may well have friends who are)" and can presume that
by the wording you are going to post something that will most likely get
your website taken down, you booted off your isp, and/or your usenet account
terminated (if it was web work, you wouldn't have mentioned the "(or may
well have friends who are)" since this would have been your target audience

Clint

If it pays well, sure. ;-)

But, seriously. I don't mind you posting a project seeking people, as long
as you provide an accurate description of the project (or as far as you
confidentiality protection agreement would take you), specifically what
types of people you're seeking, and what we can expect to be paid. Beware
that some people won't get out of bed for peanuts (unless they're hungry
for snacks).

Post it, but don't get cheap with the pay, or offer a cut of the profits
in return. Nobody will bite.

Posting from a hotmail.com account isn't the best way to start building
confidence in your ability to compensate prospective employees for their
work.

Use www.jobserve.co.uk instead.
Then post a link to it.
