How is that spam ? That is not spam ... spam is unwanted emails, and
newsgroup postings - not adverts on a free service that doesn't
interfere with my browsing ... Popups are annoying, but text ads on the
right or above, well I like them.

The point was, that e-bay intercept *EVERY* unrelated phrase, and turn
it into a misleading advert.

It is the deception I have a problem with.

Mmm it has thrown up some "interesting" auctions ... but they pay so
little for each click, that its normally down the bottom ...

I agree to a point... it does annoy me but I just ignore it usually. Someday
it might help lead someone to one of my auctions. :-)

I wrote Google about it, explaining how it dlutes the value of their
service. Figured it would hit a nerve since their IPO.
Actually got an answer that sounded a trifle concerned, though we all
know scripts have no feelings!
I complained of "Nonsense bot hits".
I was searching for something like plutonium/beryllium/antimony
neutron sources, and was informed I could get all I wanted on EBay by
this absurd bot.
(By now, Homeland Security, the INA, the DoE, the NRC, etc. have
probably kicked their doors down and surrounded their offices with
tanks.)
Serves them right.
Let's flood the searches with CARNIVORE terms like "CNWDI". That'll
stop it. Really fast.

ROTFL!

Like I said, must do a search for WMD (except that none can be
found....)

Which is going against the standards too.
