| Civilians | The cheapest I've seen are from EV1, but they are usually sold out. You might try contacting sales: http://www.ev1servers.net/english/10mbps_series.asp Nocster has some 10Mbps packages too. Cheers, Daniel http://www.danhendricks.com |

Pick any two. unmetered doesnt exist. I guarantee any that says its unmetered will drop you if you go over a limit they dont tell you about. |

Unless you are actually bandwidth limited; they don't need to meter you if they've made your pipe limited and not burstable because you can only generate a finite amount of traffic. eg on a 1 meg pipe you could at the most transfer ~ 320GB in a month, although I don't know if anyone actually does this. The rackspace I have sells bandwidth per block and they monitor you on the 95% percentile of bandwidth use and billing is based on that. -- Chris Hope - The Electric Toolbox - http://www.electrictoolbox.com/ |

| Civilians | i recently leased a dedicated windows 2003 (you can get linux, same price) server from ait at http://ait.com for $39.95 a month. it comes with a 40 gig hard drive, 256 megs of ram, 1000GB monthly transfer, and i get full root access. to the best of my knowledge it is unmetered with a 100mbps NIC plugged into twin oc192 sonnet rings. i put a 700 meg avi on the server to download from work (3mbps at work) and had no trouble maintaining a 3mbps rate for the entire download. THAT SAID, when you lease it, it is YOUR server. you control it completely via remote desktop and if you screw up a firewall setting and lock yourself out its gonna cost you $100 to have a tech go let you back in. ait's product is excellent, but their customer service/response time sucks. so long as you dont screw up your firewall settings or otherwise lock yourself out its a great deal. |
