| Civilians | Some clients would like to be able to use my calendaring software on their wireless hand held devices. I have no idea if my sites can even be displayed on such devices. Is there any website that discusses how to design your site so it can be viewed on those things? I am guessing graphics are not allowed, but about simple html tables with input forms? Thx! |

Opera has a small-screen mode (can't remember if that's what it's called), which I believe is a fairly accurate approximation. > Is there any website that discusses how > to design your site so it can be viewed on those things? Just follow the normal accessibility guidelines. > I am guessing graphics are not allowed, Why not? As long as they have appropriate alternative text (which they should anyway), it won't be an issue, regardless of whether the UA supports images or not. > but about simple html tables > with input forms? No problems, providing the tables linearise logically. Though whether a form is tabular data is still a matter of debate. -- Mark Parnell http://www.clarkecomputers.com.au |

Yes ... most of it no problem, if I was designing for a PDA - a specific PDA, I would probably use Flash, just because of extra features ... G |

| Civilians | I just would like to know who the hell pinned the tail on the donkey? "Tables are for tabular data". To be more correct, a table is a "Data table". What is "data"? Data is information of any kind placed within a table. Ergo, the tag <TD> or "Table Data". NOT "Tabular Data". The original "Table" format was designed to mimick the function of a spreadsheet. Before CSS, Tables were the only way to do things. Now with CSS, we have a second option. Now how soon will it be before CSS is replaced with something else? The preceding rant was courtesy of the "Lord of the Bull". |

Opera makes mobile phone browsers, and SSR on Opera's *desktop* browsers show more or less *exactly* when their mobile phone browsers show. It's not a great approximation for other brands of mobile phone browsers though. -- Toby A Inkster BSc (Hons) ARCS Contact Me ~ http://tobyinkster.co.uk/contact |
