Default In bound link question?

Do inbound links that point to your home page; pass the benefit down
to other pages on your site? Even if one or two clicks away from your
homepage? How much, if so?
Thanks,

SERPs often display 2 pages from the same site. My guess is that if
the search engines like your site because of inbound links, that'll
help other relevant pages at the site be displayed in addition to the
home page. But I don't know.

You might get more informed responses if you post in
alt.internet.search-engines.

How much? About 0.892783 miles. Or was it 7.8900213 volt?

Sorry, couldn't resist :-).

For Google's Page Ranking scheme, see <http://www.google.com/technology/>.
"PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using
its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value.
In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by
page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of
votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts
the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more
heavily and help to make other pages "important."

Google finds a couple useful sites with "pagerank calculator"
<http://www.google.com/search?q=pagerank%20calculator>. Calculating
exact values of "how much" a link might "benefit" another page in the
same site is probably impossible.

And even if those calculations are accurate, they only cover Google, not
the many other search engines which all may or may not have completely
different ways of calculating a page/site's worth.
