Huge delay when editing hyperlinks

When I click on the hyperlink button, the hyperlink editing box opens
up as usual. If I don't paste, or click "remove link" then click "ok"
very very rapidly, the box just sits there for almost 3 minutes. What
it does, is it opens every possible page or file in my webspace that I
might want to link to.

What in the world is going on here??
Why does that feature need to be mandatory?

Yeah, I have the same problem. It all worked fine in FP98 but they seem to
have "improved" it in 2000.

I find that I can't even paste into the hyperlink creator, it just won't
accept it. So what I do if I have a long URL, I just type in something like
xxx.com then go into HTML mode cut out xxx.com and paste in the URL. It's a
long wauy around but it's easier than just sitting there waiting.
