Default Webiste Photograph Protection

Hi,

I am going to write a diving website and on it will be some photos that I
have taken underwater and I have heard that people just collect them and
pass them around and I don't want that to happen. What is the best way of
stopping people just doing left click and save picture?

Steve

The truth is, if you don't want people to steal your photos, don't put them
on the internet, period. Disabling the right-click still leaves plenty of
options to steal your photo ranging from a screen capture, Windows Menu
shortcut key (put your cursor over a photo and hit the Menu key next to your
right-hand CTRL key) and the same options come up as right-click.

You can put a watermark on the image, but this will degrade the image. You
can frustrate people by putting the image into the background of a table
cell, then make a transparent image the same size, directly over it. When
they save the image, it's blank!

Excellent idea. I will do that. As you say, it's impossible for people to
stop the photos being ripped off but there are things that can be done. I
also thought of putting copywrite notices that were small enough not to see
when on the web but if there is a complaint I can prove that it's mine.
