Default Backup Existing Web Site from the host. server

A new client has asked me to backup his existing website. It is a Front
Page website hosted on a FP machine by a third party.

I tried to FTP over to the host, got in but am unable to see any files.
I tried Front Page import but only a portion is retrieved.

Do I have to use Front Page to download his entire web? How would this be
accomplished?
OR
Is there a way to FTP it to my machine (my preffered method)?

Thanks.

Most 3rd party hosts will perform a backup for you and give you the media.
The 3rd party host I use for my business charges $25 to backup a site to a
CD. Check with the 3rd party and see if they offer the service.

Other than that, the only way would be to FTP into the site, copy the entire
site down to your machine, and perform your own backup.

In researching this task I discovered that using Front Page I am able to
open the web in question and publish to my local HD. Thus making the
desired backup.
Seems to me that this method will do the job. So I went ahead and tried it
and got what seems to be most of the site. I am uncertian, however,
whether I have the entire site or not.

Another question comes to mind.
How might I erase the existing website and replace it with a rebuilt one?
Is this wise? Is the best approach to simply upload the new one and then
delete the unnecessary remains?

If you have Adobe Acrobat, select Open Web Page, Check Get Entire
Website, select PDF or HTML format, start download.
Acrobat will fetch it all for you.

1. Open your home url and click the edit with frontpage plugin button
2. Select "Folder" view and hit CTRL+A
2. Create the directory you wish to backup to
3. Click "File">>"Open" then browse to and open your backup directory
4. When prompted let Frontpage add the necessary files to make it a web
folder
5. Drag the contents of your web page to the second instance of Frontpage
6. Drop the contents in your backup directory
