![]() | Ok my NRA card carrying friends I need some expert advice for my next firearm purchase. I sold my gun collection before leaving for the sand-box, and since returning home have been mulling over what I should purchase. Right now I am looking for a high-power rifle that can support all the tactical rail-mounted toys that I have accumulated in the service of this mans army. It needs to be something that I can shoot on weekends at the range (and not go broke on ammo), and also be able to put down a buck, moose, wild pig, bear etc... I am currently looking at the Springfield Armory M1A SOCOMII. Which chambered in 7.62X51. Springfield Armory Any thoughts? I am looking at buying online either a new or like-new for between $1600-1700.

| unrepentant grunt ![]() | I own a M1A The National Match model from Springfield. I also have an M14D from surplus. The Springfield is a great weapon. However if you go for it, make sure you spring for the TRW Hard Bolt. Also get the E-2 Stock if you can find one. As for Mag's GE does not make them any longer. You will have to hit the Gun Shows. Any other toys you want to put on, well it's your Wallet. My advice is stay with the National Match grade weapon, you can build it the way you want. Even have the barrel cut if you want but I think you will find that you wont want to. As for finding one try B&B guns, Turners or Fed Ord.
