It’s a lower receiver for an AR-15 rifle. The lower receiver is the part that has the serial number and it’s the lower receiver that gets registered. The lower receiver holds the trigger assembly and butt stock. An upper receiver holds the barrel, bolt, etc..

This will be my third AR-15 type rifle that I built.

My first one I built about 20 years ago and was a AR-15 A2 with a standard 20” barrel.


Then about 12 years ago I built this CAR-15 with a 10.5” barrel and a 5.5” flash suppresser.


This is Alex’s AR-15 A3 carbine.


This go around I think I’ll build the more modern M4A3 with a 16” barrel.
Like this one Alex carried in Iraq. Only mine will be the semi-auto version.
