Default The Beretta 96 40S&W

I just bought a new handgun, the Beretta 96 with 3 dot Tritium sights and a laser hand grip. I got this handgun as a welcome home gift for my son Alex. I got him the Beretta because it’s the hand gun that he carried in Iraq and he is vary familiar with this weapon. He was able to disassemble and then reassemble this weapon blindfolded faster then anyone else in his unit. I picked the 96 model over the 92 as I like the 40cal. S&W round over the 9mm…

Does anyone else here on TrackPads have this weapon? And how do you like it? Pros/cons.

The engraved number on the unit coin coincides with my son’s side arm number he carried in combat. The Beretta 96 in this photo is the side arm that I gave to him on his return,

Scotto,

I have been shooting a 92F in competition for years and love it. I have fired the 96 40S&W and like it alot, I dont however see much difference in the two when shooting. most of the time I carry my 84 .380 it looks like a 92F that was washed, dryed and shrank

The .40S&W has a bit more of a punch but the 96 only holds 10+1 rounds. I have my CCW and carry a Glock 19 that holds 15+1 of 9mm.
Alex is an AR15/M16/M4 armor and works for DPMS, I also do piece work for them at my shop at home. Anyway, last summer the company held there annual Tri-Gun Challenge then the next day after we were done with work DPMS had a employee Tri-Gun challenge. I was using my trusty old AR15A2 with iron sights and my Glock19. My son was using his M4 with a ACOG scope and his 96 but ended up using my Glock so he didn’t need to reload during handgun course.

Photos from the shoot are in my gallery .

I just bought this for my son for Christmass.

I was going to get him a Blackhawk carbon fiber like I use for my Glock but

first off, I’m not 100% in love with it.

Nice holster, he should like it very much.

I have never used a blackhawk how do you like it? I have always used bladetech. The factory is 10 min from my house and I am pretty cheap so I like to stop by the show room and pick through the defect box. I bought my 92F and 1911 for $10.00ea.
