DoD Identifies Navy Casualty


The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was
supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.



Seaman Apprentice Robert D. Macrum, 22, of Sugarland, Texas, was lost at sea. He was last seen the evening of Sept. 12 while the ship was underway.
Macrum was assigned to the USS Princeton, currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf conducting maritime security operations as part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.



Petty Officer 3rd Class Fabricio Moreno, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was killed Oct. 14 in a single-vehicle accident in Manda Bay, Kenya. Moreno was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3, Port Hueneme, Calif. He was deployed as part of a Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa construction team.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.



Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher W. Thompson, 25, of N. Wilkesboro,
N.C., was killed in action on Oct. 21 from an IED explosion while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.



Thompson was assigned to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 8th
Regimental Combat Team, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Forces Atlantic, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Petty Officer 1st Class Howard E. Babcock IV, 33, of Houston, Texas, died in a motorcycle accident on Oct. 13 in Bahrain. Babcock was assigned to the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Bahrain.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Allan M. Cundanga Espiritu, 28, of Oxnard, Calif., died Nov. 1 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat
operations in the vicinity of Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Espiritu was assigned to 2nd Force Service Support Group (Forward), II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Petty Officer 3rd Class Emory J. Turpin, 23, of Dahlonega, Ga., died Nov. 20 when he drowned in the Seychelles. Turpin was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74 currently deployed to the Seychelles.

Petty Officer First Class Michael Anthony Jordan, 35, of Augusta, Ga., died in an automobile accident Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, in Manama, Bahrain. Jordan was assigned to Destroyer Squadron 50, Bahrain.
