| Jr. Officer ![]() | Wounded vets can get discount homes in Ariz. By Karen Jowers - Staff writer Posted : Tuesday Jan 22, 2008 6:01:28 EST A Glendale, Ariz., home builder is offering wounded warriors discounts of $30,000 to $50,000 on new homes in one of its developments. Biltmore Homes is the first home builder to make a commitment to offer discounts and other incentives as part of the non-profit Operation Homefront’s Wounded Warrior Housing program. The organization has called on home builders and lenders to help put wounded warriors into permanent housing. “Biltmore Homes has set a terrific standard for the housing industry that will really benefit wounded warriors and their families,” said Meredith Leyva, co-founder of Operation Homefront, in a statement announcing the discounts. “These are beautiful new homes at a steep discount in a prime location near VA facilities, great schools and a big job market. With as many as 130,000 qualified families, we think we can help sell entire cul-de-sacs rather quickly.” The WestGlen Villas development is a gated community with a variety of amenities, including a community pool, and is minutes away from Westgate, Cardinals Stadium and Coyotes Arena. According to the builder’s Web site, the homes range from about $210,000 up. The development offers 152 homes available in four different floor plans. One- and two-story designs range from about 1,350 square feet to over 2,300 square feet, from two to five bedrooms. Larger homes with more upgrades on premium lots will receive the largest discounts. Biltmore Homes can also provide upgrades to accommodate disabilities. For more information visit the Web site or call (623) 478-5400. Operation Homefront’s goal is to create neighborhoods of wounded warrior families nestled inside large subdivisions of comfortable and affordable housing, officials said in an earlier announcement of the initiative.
