Good evening all! I'm back from work, what a glorious day it was sunny with clouds appearing every once in a while. I love being outdoors. I am now enjoying my first drink (alcoholic) of the day, a vodka collins.

Welcome to the site Niels. Look around, there is a Newbies thread where you can tell us a little about yourself and we can all get acquainted.

It was beautiful here too, Paul. I couldn't stand it and we went out to stroll about a bit and just soak it in. Of course, it was going to the store and shop, but that was secondary -- just a necessity wrapped in a day off from all the things here.

My nephew and his family stayed most of this morning, and we enjoyed them very much. The little boys are just beautiful. The three-year-old speaks only Finnish, we were told, but he used some English with his great uncle. They formed an instant bond.

It was fun; they had a chance to rest from the flight and long drive down here, and we got to know Hanna and the children.

It was a joy, Paul. The boys are about the same difference in age as Ad and Bobby, and it really took us back. They are beautiful children.

They've gone on down the coast to see Dan's father, then to Asheville to see his step-mother and back to the coast, Charleston, to see his grandmother. That's lot of driving with small children, so I was doubly glad for them to have time to really rest and get their bearings before going on.

It sounds like they have a good trip planned. I've travelled all over the country with kids and it's not as bad as many people make it out to be. I don't have a temper and always planned to drive when the kids were either tired or asleep. I would plan my stops to give them something fun to do so they wouldn't get antsy. My ex was always more trouble than the kids. I am a history nut and would always stop at those blue roadside signs and read the history of the area. She would ***** and moan and I would tell her that if she learned to read she might enjoy them.
