Good morning Marianne. I'm doing fine today.

The rain finally stopped but not before it did a lot of damage to the City's transportation system. There was even an EF2 tornado in Brooklyn and that is very rare.

It is certainly rare! I've never heard of it before. I don't know what an "EF" tornado is, but I hope it means that it wasn't a very big or strong tornado!

We had some terrible rain with thunder and lightning earlier. It has rained most of the night but has finally let up some. After this cooling rain it is forecast to go into the 90's with high humidity.

There was extensive damage just West of me. Trees were blown down with houses and cars destroyed by those trees which were either pulled out of the ground or snapped off at the trunk. Most of the Subway system was shut down because of extensive flooding and since it is an all electric system they had to shut it down because if anyone fell into that water they would be electrocuted. They recorded over 3 inches of rain in less than 3 hours, it was a deluge.

Marianne, EF2 is the Enhanced Fujita scale that they measure tornadoes with. It goes from 0 to 5, an EF2 indicates that the winds were from 111 to 135 miles per hour. It ripped roofs right off houses and businesses. This is the first tornado in NYC since 1889, they are rare here.

All that rain in the city where it's not needed and causes damage! Three inches in that short a period of time isn't apt to help anybody, of course -- it's too much, too fast. Even in the country, it would flood and do a certain amount of damage.

It was an impressive and nasty tornato, wasn't it.

The one good thing in that paragraph is ".. they are rare here." I hope it's twice that long before the next tornado in NYC!
