Funny how those nuns all loved him. He would chauffeur them at times and treat them like queens - my father could be very charming when he set his mind to it.

No one cares if you bob up and down or not. A lot of people can't for one reason or the other.

Katie, sounds like your father wanted you brought up in a religious atmosphere and that could be a good thing. As for the Catholic service where I felt so foolish, I was just trying to show respect.......but sometimes, I suppose it's best just not to try at the risk of looking foolish. The family knew how much we cared for them and that's all that mattered.

Don't worry about that Bonnie. When I was in Vietnam, Chaplains would fly in to visit our camp (very rarely) but I always managed to go to the service regardless of the Religion or the denomination of the Padre. They came to minister to all of us equally.

He really liked the discipline of the Catholic schools, plus he looked at it as part of his promise to bring any children up as Catholics.

Yes, that's all that mattered - and I really doubt that anyone thought you looked foolish.

Right you are Paul. I have no qualms about attending other churches.......when it get's right down to it, 99% of them have the same goal and share a common bond.

Morning all! Fresh hot steaming double Irish is on the bar, both regular and unleaded. There is also a pot of hot, spoon melting Orderly Room coffee prepared for those who prefer it. Help yourselves.
