Good morning everybody! Great to be back and have REAL coffee for a change. We usually take our coffee pot on our trips, but this time we didn't. We like coffee with chickory and I sure missed that extra "boost"......never again will we leave it behind. Shucks! No sooner get here and I have to leave to take the grands to school. What a shame you didn't take your coffee pot! Did you get some of that coffee to take back home with you?

Hi Marianne! We buy Community Coffee with chickory.....(got hooked on it our first trip to New Orleans) and have drank it ever since. The B&B we stayed at had Community medium roast and the Hampton Hotel's we stayed at on part of our trip have a robust Community that is close, but no cigar.

I enjoy that chickory kick too, Bonnie. It keeps the coffee from putting me to sleep when it's in the coffee. The only other that I can drink cups of before I can't stay awake is Turkish coffee. That may be because of the thimble-sized cups, of course!

Yes, coffee does put me to sleep - or, at least, relax me so I have trouble not going to sleep. My mother was the same way; even so, I know it's odd.

I had some of that "thimble" coffee once........thought I was gonna puke! We have coffee after supper every night and it doesn't affect us as far as sleeping either....BUT........if we have too big a meal, it's owl eyes for hours.

Well, I studied Arabic for several years. One day when I went for the usual lession, my Arab teacher gave me a cup of Turkish coffee. I told him I couldn't drink it. He said I had to drink it; to go into an Arab home and turn down the coffee would insult the family. So I forced myself to drink it, and every lesson after that he gave me a cup and I got hooked on it. When I came home from my next trip to Israel, I brought Turkish coffee, which my teacher taught me how to brew it.

I went to lunch with the men from the coffee (read "cafè) one day - no other women were there; it was a wedding reception and I was the only one to meet the bride. The coffee was strained then, which it seldome is, and it did make it more enjoyable. But I'll take it, grounds and all. I really do enjoy it immensely.

Is this the coffe they put, uh, what is it, CLOVES? I drank some when Hub was guarding an Arabian Prince in Houston for heart surgery. This coffee may be a whole other kind.............anyhoo, it was AWFUL, but being the charming and gracious person that I am , I choked it down.
