| Snake-eater ![]() | I stay busy because I have the time when I am not working at the course. I have been working with a young man who is striving to become an Eagle Scout. I (as Commander) told him he could use our hall for his collection, this is the Troop that we took over since the school wouldn't do it any more. I worked especially hard since he will be our first Eagle Scout. He worked hard and with the help of several of his Troop members distributed over 3,000 flyers throughout the town, had it placed on the local (LI) TV channel and placed in the local newspapers. It was a great success because he specified that what he was collecting was for the veterans. It will all go to St. Albans and Northport Veteran's hospitals. I opened the place at 0800 for his project and during the day worked with several of our members we decorated the hall for our annual dinner dance. I left for an hour to go home to clean up and change for the party, went back and attended (& worked the bar), so I didn't get home until almost 0100. He collected so much that the packed boxes filled up 2 Chevy suburbans, including the passenger seat. He received over 500 books, and a lot of cash from those who had no articles to contribute, so our next step is to use those cash donations to establish a library at St. Albans. It is a a long term care facility for veterans who are disabled, most in wheel chairs or walkers and they don't currently have a library. It is a chance for us to supply "the extras" that the VA doesn't have in it's budget. I guess I rambled on too much, but those young men are doing a great job.

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | You never ramble too much, and you're giving well-earned praise to the young man who thought up and is carrying on with this project. Paul, I can't get over what those youngsters think of, let alone carry out! They are really a wonderful credit to their parents, the neighborhood and to the Post for sponsoring them. No wonder you work your butt off to help them! Imagine what this Eagle Scout has accomplished so early in his life. It looks promising for the future of the country to have such young people.
