Western Pennsylvania was beautiful. I stayed in a place on the banks of the Allgeheney where it was peaceful and quiet. The community population is/was 782 total - so very different from my California. But, seeing the trees beginning to turn colors was beautiful. I saw a lot of Amish farms and farm families and that was really exciting. However, their simpler life is a lot harder than this Cal Gal could ever honestly get into it! The creeks and bridges were amazing. And, I even killed an eastern rattlesnake. SFGA would be so proud! Granted it was only a little baby rattler, but to a 1" celluloid Betty, 4-6" of snake is HUGE!!! But in the end analysis, Betty's adventure from Hollywood and the studio, led Betty to one conclusion: Given the choice of:

The beautiful blues of Laguna Beach (the Pacific Ocean) ...

Cal/Betty chooses her ocean foam and surf!!! It was good to find out that by clicking one's ruby red slippers three times (and trusting Delta), there really is "no place like home!"

One thing - if you had gone a bit further East, you would have seen the Atlantic Ocean and beaches. Also beautiful. This is a wonderful country, isn't it? Beauty from shore to shore - America the Beautiful. One language, one nation. We must keep it that way - it's nice that you were able to come East and see it again.

Good morning all! Yes, Marianne it is beautiful - made up of many cultures and many languages but one unifying principal - We are all ONE United States and people!

As Betty does love and long after adventure, I hope to get back to Boston this coming Spring and see a little bit more of the east when the youngest son is on "band tour/competition" with the high school. Being a mom chaperone does definitely have its perks and I truly can't wait!

Went to the Kings v Ducks preseason game at Staples last night. My Los Angeles Kings beat the sucky Ducks of Anaheim in sudden death shoot out. I have always loved Giguiere so I was sorry that he let the three get by him but MY Los Angeles Kings are set for a GREAT season ahead! When Laurel was playing "serious" hockey, Giguiere was "the new kid" on the Pond and he actually sent Laurel a really good Heaton catcher with personal note that she used for years! Usually the seats have been in the "preferred" section of Staples (or the Pond) but last night we were up in the high altitude section. The advantage to the higher seats is that you truly can see all of the ice and action - but next time, I think we'll go for the perks of the preferred again! LOL

Well, it's off to work I go. FINALLY, the Joint Commission Accreditation team has arrived (yesterday through Thursday) and so off to work my fingers must fly! See you all later.

Ellen, now that the AC is just about up, what about the central heating??? It's getting a wee bit chilly in the evenings back east - I did notice that while I was there!

I have been real busy lately and haven’t been to the cabin in 3 weeks. But now fall is in the air and I am getting that familiar itch to go hunting… I think I’ll take the weekend off and scout out some of my favorite deer hunting spots…
