| Non-Commissioned Officer ![]() | FYI, this is lifted from an acquantance's post elsewhere that bears on some claims regarding Bush's service. I was not an aviator myself, so cannot verify the use of the terminology, but I trust the source. Just to keep things in perspective..." __________________________________________________ __________ "He wasn't observed by his superiors, it says so in his fitness reports...." I've got 9 years Active Duty as a Naval Aviator...EVERY time I went to another command for an assignment, I got a "UNOBSERVED" fitness report from either my parent command or the command I was temporaraily assigned to, depending on the mission and length of duty... "Un-Observed" is the actual term they use...typical of the liberal media to spin that into meaning "See, his own bosses couldn't even find him! He must have been slackin' off under a tree drunk, high, stoned or all 3!...." And one that was mentioned above here...In all my travels I can't remember 85% of the folks I served with! I have memories, some that I will NEVER forget, but many names have been eroded over time.... Not unusual at all... __________________________________________________ ______ In this context, it would seem that "unobserved" translates better as, "I did not make a point of observing this individual for the purpose of pilot or officer performance evaluation"...or something like that. Of course, leave it to the military to use obfuscation and arcane terminology, thankfully, no other dicipline does that. ![]()

| Banned ![]() | It basically, to me, means that he wasn't serving in a capacity that would render impact upon his FITREP... in the opposite line as what he would be evaluated for as an officer serving as a pilot. During this period, he was, in Naval terms "TAD" (Temporarily Assigned Duty)... I've seen my record, and while I was TAD, there is nothing for this time period regarding my command. Signed out. Signed in. I was, however, serving in a "military" capacity. |
