Default Difficulty in Voting

Changes May Lead Voters to Wrong Polls

By CONNIE MABIN, Associated Press Writer

CLEVELAND - For years, Joycelyn Henry voted at the same neighborhood church. So she was surprised last year when she was told she was in the wrong precinct.

Full story at this web site.

When I read articles like this I am glad I live where I do. The process here is so simple. About two weeks prior to being able to vote early I get a booklet. The booklet explains any local initatives, a sample of what the ballot will look like, my precinct polling place, directions to it, hours of operation, and a list of places I can vote early.

Best guess there were 40 machines available for me to electronically cast my vote. An on screen verification is presented before finalizing my vote and once complete, a paper record is made with my information on it.

I think because the election process has been made so easy here that is why more than 200,000 people have already voted early. This is one of those situations where spending money has saved time, money & aggravation.

I wish we had the option to vote early, but we haven't. We did get a pamphlet like the one you got, Brian - just no early voting allowed. I would like to get it over with.

Default Re: Difficulty in Voting

Having already cast my vote, I can honestly say that I am very glad that we have early voting in TN. I only had about a 30-45 minute wait which I didn't think was all that bad. I can only imagine what it will be like on the 2nd.

Here in Oregon, we have state-wide mail in ballots and I love it. I've had mine for quite a while now and just sit down at the table with my coffee and mark my ballot. This year I'll have something stronger!
