If Gustav hits N O it should be a good indication if the 100 billion spent so far was money well spent.

This concievably could end Norleans as we know it.If it was my decision i would tell them they are living in a new section of lake ponchetrain.If they move great,if not oh well.They should realign the levy system to exclude all the areas prone to flooding and return them to wetlands.This would save alot of money.New orleans is a great town but not worth this much money and hardship.

Just heard from my sister Judi, her Disaster Recovery Unit from New York State is deployed in Tallahassee, Fla for the moment. She just told me that they are to be ready to move at a half hour's notice.

Seems to me it is lowering in strength that may be normal. These storns have a way of doing what we don't expect.

Maybe it will only hit as a bad storm.

It has dropped in strength. Supposedly a very large amount of dry air has been added to the rotation, causing it to drop in pressure and strength. Still may increase before landfall, which as of the latest, seems to be around Houma, La.

Hey does anyone else find it crass the way the media seems so much like vultures? As if they just love this.

I mean I know people want to know and be informed but they seem to just eat it up like landing on the moon or something.

I don't want to say they are happy it has come but sometimes I really wonder.

Or are they a mirror of our society?

I think the media are loving it, Scott. This is something big that they can get on TV and spout about.

They've gotten into sensationalism.
