Our Social Security Funds; Support H.R. 219

Today I received in the mail a form from the Christian Seniors Association informing me that Congress has to date raided our Social Security funds in
the amount of $2.292 TRILLION. This year they are planning to take another
$209 BILLION more from our fund. And it is ours; we put it in there in good
faith and not for the nefarious uses of a Congress that no longer represents
the good of the people of this nation.

Ron Paul has introduced H.R. 219 to stop this thievery -- they call it a raid,
but I call it even more than that. It's outright thievery from the people of this nation who have put money into that fund from our income all our working years in order to have it upon retirement.

Our children are doing the same. Congress does not get Social Security; their retirement funds are quite secure. You can bet they will not rob themselves.

I just thought you all would like to have this information and write to your email contacts and -- especially! -- to your so-called representatives in Congress. Tell them to leave our savings alone. Tell the Senators to watch for this bill and push it through to the president. Tell him to sign it.

We want and need this legislation; our children and theirs need it a lot more than we do. It's time we stood up and demanded that they represent us as they should instead of as they want. They're lying to us and robbing us. Let's join Ron Paul in this effort to close at least this one door on them.

As I said, I received it in the mail; not email. I know some of the people involved -- Roscoe Bartlett, our former Representative, is one of them and very reliable. He is our "former" representative because we moved from Howard County. He's honest, which is a delightful change from most politicians.

You may remember him as the one who blew the whistle on Bill Clinton's golf buddies using helicopters to golf in Maryland. I believe Air Force helicopters, but it's just been too many years. Perhaps somebody here will remember it more clearly.

In any event, I composed the thread. It didn't come from anybody else. The information was in the document I received.

Shooterman and leobold have both started their threads with no sources. Why is it that I cannot do the same? This is my thread -- my opinion and based on facts I have. The source is in my hand, but not on the internet.

They have done the same with no flack from you or anyone else.

Lay off, what do you want her to do scan it, and upload the scan with all of her vital info on the copy to make sure it isn't a scam. Like if it's not on the internet it's not real. It's a personal testament directly from a member. I know we've got rules, but I'd say beyond this

BENEFITS COME TO HALT IN 2041

Washington, DC – The Social Security trustees report was issued late Tuesday and all of the usual hand-wringing rhetoric about “something must be done” produced no new proposals or actions, according to the Christian Seniors Association.
According to one news report, the Social Security system has three options:

• “borrow” more money
• cut benefits
• raise taxes

“With a few heroic exceptions, no one mentioned keeping Congressional paws out of the Social Security Trust Fund and allowing money taken from workers for their Social Security to (actually) be used for Social Security,” said CSA Executive Director James Lafferty.
“Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas), Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) and Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) are lonely voices crying out within the Beltway,” said Lafferty.
“Senator DeMint’s ‘Stop the Raid’ budget amendment would bring a halt to the Congressional thievery which has taken $2 trillion out of Social Security to spend on pet projects and non-related federal programs. Experts estimate the Congress will take another trillion dollars before 2013.
“We need to get Congress to stop talking and start acting so that these lawmakers will stop treating Social Security like their own personal slush fund.
“CSA will continue to work with those in the Congress who want to protect the hard-earned Social Security benefits of seniors. We will also explore the possibility of a comprehensive reform bill which targets abuses of the trust of America’s seniors.
“The trustees report concluded that there had been little to no improvement in the condition of the Social Security Trust Fund. To use a word which is getting thrown around a lot in the election cycle, that needs to ‘change.’
The Christian Seniors Association has over 300,000 members across America and is a Christian alternative to the liberal AARP. It was founded by the Rev. Louis P. Sheldon and is a project of the Traditional Values Coalition.
