| Snake-eater ![]() | This is totally absurd. Ken Schram: Someone should be fired YouNewsTV™ Story Published: Nov 29, 2007 at 11:35 AM PST Story Updated: Nov 29, 2007 at 7:05 PM PST By Ken Schram Watch the story I don't think things can get more screwed up with airport security. This isn't about how investigators were able to smuggle liquid explosives and detonators past TSA screeners earlier this year. It's about the atrocious treatment endured by some Fort Lewis soldiers who were escorting the remains of a colleague home to Virginia earlier this month. Brief background: On the tarmac, an honor guard had been formed by Port of Seattle Police, airport fire and rescue and military personnel as the soldier's body was placed on the plane. A police officer then took the escort soldiers up to security. The TSA screener checked everyone's ID, including the police officer, and then had the soldiers go through the metal detectors. Their combat ribbons and medals set off the alarms. So what does the TSA screener do? He has the soldiers strip off their uniforms - in front of everyone - down to their tee shirts, pants and socks. Will someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with these people? How does some inept, insensitive idiot with the IQ of room temperature even get a TSA job? That TSA screener should have his ass fired. And those soldiers deserve at least an apology. ---

| Junior Officer ![]() | Far to much credit for the screeners I. Q. Somewhere around freezing on the farenheit scale would even be to high. Considering the variety of mistakes & outright stupidity some serious investigation needs to take place for the training & supervision of screeners. I can understand that screeners are not going to be college grads using this job as a stepping stone to a superior career. A rush to make something appear to be taking place to protect the traveling public is what TSA is about. Seems the public is more & more needing protection from the screeners. I'd rather drive and see America than to fly. Might cost more but the pleasure of leisurely no hassle travel has a lot of appeal to me.

| Junior Officer ![]() | Just another day at the airport. I travel a lot...... I have Seen TSA do som really dumb stuff. I watched them argue for 15 minutes with a 75-80 year old woman about her medications. She had a few liquids.

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | When we went to Arizona last spring, the security man smiled at me and allowed as how I didn't seem to be a threat. They they practically stripped my 81-year-old husband because his belt buckle caused a problem. Anybody could look at him and see that he's just an older man with no malice toward anybody.

| Sensei ![]() | Firing one person will not solve the problem. The problem is TSA itself. From the top down the agency is infected with hubris and stupidity, a lethal combination. The agency is but one stop on the idiot express. The only solution is to fire everyone, disband the agency, and allow each airline or airport to decide on security. Allow trained, sworn officers to do the job, not uneducated welfare mothers with a power complex. Allow CCW. Profile muslims.

| Enlisted Warrior ![]() | Every airport has it's own standards as far as Security. I've traveled thru airports where you don't have to remove shoes. belts etc. . I disagree with allowing the airlines and airports hire security firms to man the checkpoints, that's how we got in this situation in the first place. The TSA needs to relook their operations, and quit hiring idiots as agents and supervisors. |
