Military Wants Bonus Back From Wonded Troops

This happens when bean-counters are given too much power/leeway. I doubt the flunky looked beyond the "early separation" entry on the discharge. If a flunky even looked at it. Most of this stuff is done by computer, and all the DOD & DA computers & programs come from the lowest bidder. You get what you pay for. The Army's reaction to this will tell what they intended.

The bean counters. They always cause problems. When I see that they've come to mess in the affairs of a business, I just know heads will roll and the business will lose a great deal of good will and usually business as well. All for the so-called "bottom line," which is thought of such great importance to the company. When the bean counters enter the scene, good will leaves.

For the government to make such a demand as this -- taking money from those who have been wounded in serving -- that is an outrage. The commitments have been fulfilled and more than fulfilled.

A General was on Fox News this morning explaining that it is his job to follow up on these bonus returns. It is under investigation and those that have already paid it back will be reimbursed. The number to call is 800-984-8523

Requiring the wounded troops to give back any bonus is insane.

I totally agree with ya'll! What has happened to our country? My son has already been hit three times by IEDs and suffered two concussions. If something else were to happen and he was sent home and told he couldn't have his bonus, I'm afraid it would be "dark days ahead" for those in authority who issued such orders.

People dont sweat this. The Army and DOD backtracked after being shown the Army Reg on this. Which states that unless the injury is thru misconduct they cannot go after any bonus paid to the troop. As I recall getting hit in combat is not misconduct. In fact they give you a medal for it, the Purple Heart. The Army has already issued corrections to this so-called recovery policy.
