I penned this article several years ago and thought I would post it here for your input and comments.

A Citizens hypothetical view of our future

January 20th, 2009. Hillary Clinton takes the Oath of Office as the President and Barack Obama as the Vice-President. For the first time in many years neither member of the Executive will have Foreign Policy or Military experience.

January 21st, 2009. Hillary announces that the United States will withdraw unilaterally from Iraq as fast as is Militarily possible but has set a deadline to the JCS of not later than the end of February 2010 for all Forces to be out of Iraq.

February 15th, 2009. JCS briefing. Phased withdrawal will begin sometime during the middle of March. The President has agreed, due to Logistical considerations, that some Forces will remain in Kuwait past the February 2010 deadline.

March 2009. Great Britain, Australia and other Members of the Coalition announce their respective intentions to leave Iraq with all possible speed. US Forces cover the withdrawal of the Allies. US Casualties in March rise to over 200 KIA and 1000 WIA.

April, May, June, July 2009. US Forces cannot use the Port of Basra as the British have departed and Shia attacks on US Forces have become so severe that the US must convoy through the desert via the Southern Routes to Kuwait. US Casualties for these four months total over 1000 KIA and 5000 WIA. All available US Forces are airlifted to Kuwait and sent North to try to stop the horrendous casualties. All Combat Brigades of the National Guard are activated and those necessary deployed to Kuwait/Iraq.


Sunni/Shi’ite/Kurdish violence reaches epidemic proportions. Family v. Family. Klan v. Klan. Sunni v. Shi’ite. Sunni v. Kurd. Kurd v. Shi’ite. Casualties are in the tens of thousands. Hundreds of thousands flee by any means possible to Syria, Jordan, Iran or Kuwait.

August 2009. Hillary has been under attack from the “Right” for many months but as the Casualties mount even CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS begin to question her Policies and the fact that she ignored the advice of her Military Commanders which has been “leaked” to the Press.
November 2009. In the worst attacks on US Forces since World War Two, massive suicidal frontal assaults on Convoys, coupled with hand held Antiaircraft Shoulder Fired Missiles, mortar and rocket attacks and Truck and Car suicide bombers exact a toll of over 1000 KIA and 4000 WIA and over 100 MIA.

Iran flexes its muscles on the Saudi Border utilizing several skirmishes with Saudi Forces resulting in casualties on both sides.

Hillary is under massive criticism for her inept bungling of the Military Operation to withdraw.

December 2009. Hillary makes a decision that the US will abandon any remaining equipment in Iraq and all Troops will be airlifted out of the Country.

January 2010. Shiite attacks on minority Sunnis threatens genocide of those remaining in Iraq. Bloodshed in Anbar province is pandemic.
Saudi Arabia sends Troops to reinforce its brethren in Iraq. Iran send Troops to aid the Shia. Fighting is intense with no quarter by either side.
US Air Force and Army use C130s and helicopters to airlift remnants of US Forces from the Iraqi desert at night.

January 20th, 2010. (9:00 AM ET) Saudi Arabia announces that it will no longer accept the US Dollar for oil purchases. The Chinese “guarantee” Saudi sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Panic sets in the World financial markets. Dollar tumbles in freefall. Dow drops and trading is suspended for the day.

4:00 PM ET. Panic at America’s Gas retailers. Gas is selling for over $12.00 a gallon if you can find a station with gas. Fights and shootings erupt. Dollar closes at $6.34 = 1 Euro.

Thursday, January 21st, 9:00 AM ET. New York Stock Exchange reopens and closes immediately after the Dow drops another 5000 plus points and closes at 5315.01.

12:00 PM ET. Secretary of the Treasury announces a two week “Bank Holiday” and that all Exchanges will be closed at the same time.

9:00 PM ET. Hillary makes Primetime “do not panic” speech. MSM lambaste Hillary in a critical post speech review.

February 1st, 2010. US Military completes an announced PAO (Personnel Asset Inventory) and concludes total Iraq casualties for January 2009 through February 1, 2010 stand at 4194 KIA. 15,170 WIA. 121 MIA. These figures are announced in a Press Briefing held by Centcom in Qatar.

Hillary relieves the Chairman of the JCS, Centcom Commander, Army CS and Air Force CS in political retribution. (Scapegoating). Even the MSM sees through the charade and begins to call for Congressional Investigations and possible Impeachment. Message falls on “deaf ears” as the Democrats control both Houses of Congress and the White House. Hillary blames losses on Bush and her problems on VRWC. Sends Bill on public speaking tour.

February 3rd, 2010. Stock Market reopens. Closes at 10:35 after Dow falls to 2987.67.

Dollar is “Delisted” on the FOREX. The Dollar is no longer convertible to a foreign currency on the Open Market.

By Executive Order all markets and banks are closed for 30 days.

All Creditor Nations demand Gold for the US paper they are holding. In one of the few intelligent decisions of her Administration, Hillary refuses to honor the demands of China, the EU, Japan, Taiwan, et al.

Secretary of the Energy announces that there are only 14 days of finished petroleum stocks in US Inventory and that all fuel be rationed in a manner to be determined.

All fuel retailers in the US are closed by Federal Order. US troops placed at refineries.

OPEC announces that any Nation caught “reselling” oil to the US will be embargoed.

Most grocery outlets in the US have long since been stripped bare.


March 1st 2010. Monday. Fuel supplies have been allocated to the railroads and Trucking Industries to move essential requirements. Food is back on the grocery shelves. Gas is rationed for personal vehicles. Only one ration per family regardless of number of vehicles owned. Two hundred liters per month.

March, April, May, June, 2010. US moves all Forces from overseas to the United States.

Unemployment is over 30%. Foreclosures are at an all time high.

Hyperinflation has reared its ugly head. Gas is $50,000 dollars per gallon. A loaf of bread is $5000.

There are many Urban Riots.

Those who have the pre 1965 silver coins do very well. Those smart enough to buy one ounce silver blanks and bars and the small one tenth ounce gold blanks and bars over the years before the “Collapse” are the new wealthy.

Hillary makes many “do not panic” speeches on radio and TV but none in public as she has been repeatedly booed and has had many assassination threats and attempts.

Congress, as always, is indecisive. Decides to set up a “Commission” to study the problem.

US Combat Forces are in an ugly mood. They have suffered massive losses from the Iraq debacle and they are being paid as if there were no inflation.


July 2nd, 2010. Friday. 1700 ET. The Chairman of the JCS and the Chief of Staff of the US Army announce in a Pentagon Briefing that Martial Law has been declared throughout the Nation effective immediately. Hillary and Obama are under “house arrest.” The Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader have been “advised” to have the Congress remain in recess until further notice. Any “misunderstanding” of this request could have severe unintended and possibly fatal consequences.

The 82nd Airborne will “garrison” DC until a date to be determined.
All looters, rioters, thugs and lawbreakers will be dealt with in an “extra judicial manner.”

July 5th, 2010. Monday. 0800 ET. The “Chairman“, as he is now called on National TV, and the “General” hold a Press Conference and introduce the Secretary of the Treasury who makes the following pronouncements;
The United States of America repudiates any and all prior Debt held by any and all entities, foreign or domestic.

The States and all political subdivisions thereof have 72 hours to also repudiate any and all Debt. All States follow through.

All Private Contracts initiated prior to the “Collapse” may be paid in FRN. A painful but necessary action.

Any and all Debt owed to any member Bank of the Federal Reserve may be paid in FRN.

The Federal Reserve is abolished and all assets of the Federal Reserve and all Member Banks will be seized. This includes all the assets of the New York Federal Reserve Bank including the Gold held on deposit.

No Holding Company may own more than one bank.

No bank may own another bank.

No bank may have branch banks.

The United States has begun the Minting of silver coins from government held stocks and they will be issued beginning next Monday the 12th.
All coins will be 90% Silver plus alloy for hardness at the following historical weights:

Additionally, the US will issue the standard nickel, a two cent copper coin, one cent copper coin and a half cent copper coin.

The United States will also begin Minting Gold Coins by weight only instead of denomination. All coins will be 90% Gold by weight. One ounce, one half ounce, one quarter ounce, one tenth ounce and one twentieth ounce.

The US Government will allow the free market to determine the value of each coin. FRN and new coinage will circulate side by side until the market determines which is preferred by the people and America’s businesses.

The Secretary of Commerce announces that all Imports of goods and services to the US are hereby suspended, except on a case by case basis, until further notice. The Secretary states that “the US must learn once again to be self sufficient and self reliant.”

The Secretary of Energy makes known that the US will embark on a course of immediate building of standardized Nuclear Power Plants with the same urgency of the old “Manhattan Project.” Clean Coal with carbon sequestration will also be a top priority. Fuel for private use will continue to be rationed and warned of coming European style “high taxes” on gas and diesel in the next few weeks. Most fuel will be allocated for commercial transport and construction of new electrical infrastructure.

The Secretary of Transportation announced that a crash project will be initiated to electrify America’s major freight railroads and that a new program of high speed inter city electric passenger rail construction will begin as soon as possible.

The “Chairman” finished the Briefing with the following information:

The United Nations will leave New York and the United States by the 31st of December.

The “New Bankruptcy Laws” are out and the old rules are reinstated.

All Government obligations to Social Security recipients, military retirees, civil service, postal, will resume on the 1st of September in amounts to be determined but no one may draw more than one retirement from the Federal Government. The priority for Federal payments will be: Disabled Veterans, Military Retirees, Civil Service, Postal, Social Security.

All “Illegals” have 30 days to depart the Country. Any “Illegal” apprehended after that time will be shipped to Africa.

The “Draft” will be reintroduced effective on the 1st of September. All able bodied males will serve. Those that refuse and their immediate families will be permanently stripped of all civil liberties. They may not be employed by or receive any benefit from Government at any level. They may not vote, own firearms or real property. They may not send their children to Public Schools. They may not be bonded nor work for any entity that has a contract with Government at any level.

The Department of Education is abolished.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is abolished.

The Department of Homeland Security is abolished.

The Departments of Commerce and Labor will be abolished and new Department of Industry and Labor will be established.

All Departments except Defense will RIF fifty percent of their remaining employees within 90 days.

All Welfare, Corporate or Personal, is ended effective immediately.

Medicare/Medicaid is ended effective immediately.

The “Retirement” age for Social Security will now be 70 effective immediately.

The Income Tax as known is rescinded and replaced with a 17% Flat Rate Tax.

July - December 2010. America is going back to work. Sites have been designated for new Nuclear Power Plants. Ground is being prepared. General Electric and Westinghouse have cooperated and standardized design. First Plants should come online within 5 years. Chief of Naval Nuclear Power is assisting the NRC and Secretary of Energy. New Electrical Grid infrastructure is being designed and will soon start construction.

Rights of way have been obtained, German, French and Japanese engineers are consulting, and construction is beginning on the first of the 10 high speed rail lines. Boston - New York - Philadelphia - DC - Richmond - Charlotte - Atlanta. New York - Chicago. Chicago - St Louis - Memphis - New Orleans. San Diego - LA - San Francisco - Portland - Seattle.
Later routes will be LA - Phoenix - Albuquerque - El Paso - Dallas/Ft Worth - Texarkana - Little Rock - Memphis.

Christmas Eve 2010. The “Chairman” announces that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have “resigned” as President and Vice President, have been released from “House Arrest” under “certain special and continuing conditions” and have departed the Country for Great Britain.

2011. The situation in Iraq has stabilized to a certain degree. Iran and Saudi Arabia have fought to a draw due to a world wide embargo of weapons sales to all parties in the Middle East. The Shiites have Southern Iraq, the Sunnis have an oil deprived slice of the center and the Kurds have the North and have expelled or driven out all Arabs from their territory. The Iranian quest for the “Bomb” has been severely impeded due to damage from Saudi air strikes and the embargo.

Afghanistan is once again the lawless province of the Taliban and the world’s largest producer of opium.

The situation in Pakistan was deteriorating badly until a small tactical low yield Nuclear Weapon destroyed the small stockpile of first generation Pakistani Nukes.

No one knows for sure who made the strike but suspicion falls on the Indians and Israelis.

Saudi Arabia is struggling to rebuild its oil infrastructure after the immense destruction from Iranian missile strikes and internal Shiite sabotage.

Continued low grade suicide attacks by Al-Qaeda persist and threats to the House of Saud continue. The Chinese have offered to rebuild the infrastructure and give military assistance. The Saudi Government has not reached a decision.

The States, Local Governments have been cooperating in building local electrified light rail, trolley and tram services to dovetail nicely with the coming inter city service.

The economy has stabilized with the reintroduction of bimetallic money. Federal Reserve Notes have all but disappeared. Some say the standard of living has declined others believe it is more the style of the 1940s and early 1950s. The grocery stores have a wide selection of foodstuffs, not like the turn of the century, but ample. Fresh vegetables now come by refrigerated rail car instead of by air. Mail is a little slower as it too goes by rail, bus or truck. Airmail is very expensive.

With the reintroduction of manufacturing and textile mills in the US, along with expensive energy for personal transport, many people are moving back to the cities and towns and whole areas of the old “suburbia” have been abandoned. The demand for smaller, more energy efficient housing, is fueling a building boom in the cities. Major American cities are beginning to look European.

While the Car Industry has all but died some capacity still exists to build small turbo charged diesels with rail technology borrowed from Europe. These get anywhere from 40 - 80 mpg. Most of the Auto Industry is now manufacturing or in the process of tooling to manufacture, rail passenger coaches and rolling stock for the freight or trolleys and trams.

2012. Work on the Nuclear Power Plants is progressing far ahead of schedule. The electrical infrastructure is keeping pace. The first several high speed rail lines will be complete at the same time the new nukes come online.

In August, Al-Qaeda sleeper cells within the United States perpetrated the worst attacks since 9-11. Simultaneously across the US, suicide squads and bombers, machine gunned and detonated bombs, car bombs, truck bombs in movie theaters, shopping malls and government buildings.

Thousand were killed or injured.

Two days later the US launched “Neutron Bomb” loaded cruise missiles at the lawless tribal areas of Pakistan and most of Afghanistan. 48 hours later the first of the 82nd Airborne “dropped in” on both areas. It took several days of searching but finally the troops found the bodies of Osama and his cadre of lieutenants all dead in a cave along the ill defined border.

The video that was released later said it all. The pigs being slaughtered were shown first. The bodies of Osama and his henchmen were then shown being covered in pig blood and wrapped in pig skins. Pig parts were dumped in the trench first. Then Osama and his buddies were dropped in facing West and then covered with the remaining pig parts and blood.
The “Chairman” in worldwide broadcast later that night told the entire world that any attack in the future upon the US or its citizens would result in the total nuclear destruction of Mecca and Medina and the Nation(s) from which the terrorists arose.

US Forces are withdrawn immediately after the completion of the Mission.

The very next day the Saudi Government “invited” the Chinese to rebuild the oil facilities and infrastructure and to aid in the internal military effort against Al-Qaeda and its sympathizers. The number of dead in the Kingdom’s war with Al-Qaeda will probably never be known.

2013. The progress made by private enterprise in the areas of wind and solar have been nothing short of extraordinary. Fantastic efforts have been accomplished in many other areas such as biodiesel and ethanol from sugar beets and cellulite feedstock’s.

The first of the high speed lines is complete from Boston - NY - Philly- DC.

The lines to Richmond and Charlotte as well as Atlanta should be complete by next year. The line from Chicago to New York may very well be completed at the same time.

The economy seems to be doing well.

Crime is down significantly. The “illegitimate” birthrate is almost non existent. Welfare is now the sole province of family, extended family, neighbors, community and church.

2014. The first of the new Nuclear Power Plants may be ready for “start up” at the end of the year. Fifty percent of coal fired plants are now using clean coal technology. Most of the new electrical grid is complete or will be by the end of the year.

Sites have been chosen and new ground broken for the next fifty new nuclear plants.

The first high speed rail lines are completed. New lines are under construction nationwide.

Employment is approaching pre “Collapse” levels.

The Cities are infilling. Old urban areas are being razed and new energy efficient housing stocks are being constructed. Abandoned suburbs are being methodically stripped for reusable items and then razed. All of the SUVs and other cars that littered the landscape have been shipped to the steel mills to be recycled into rails and other needed products.

2015. The “Chairman” announces that he will meet with the 50 Governors to discuss a plan to return to “Civil Administration” beginning with the Election of 2016.

Many prefer the stability of the Military Administration.

In September the Governors announced that an agreement had been reached with the “Chairman” and the following actions would be undertaking an completed prior to Election day in November 2016:

The States through their respective Legislatures would Repeal the 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 23d, 24th and 27th Amendments.

An Amendment will be put forth and passed that shall have the following provisions:

In addition to all qualifications now necessary for election to the House, Senate, President or Vice President, it shall be required that all have served honorably and faithfully in the Armed Forces of the United States.

There will be no “Grandfather“ clause.

In Article 8, Paragraph One, the following words will be struck and deleted, “and general Welfare of the United States“

The People shall have the “Right of the Initiative” subject to Laws made by the Congress sufficient to avoid frivolity.

The Federal Courts shall have no jurisdiction or power of review over any State Criminal or Civil Verdict or Punishment.

Two thirds of the States in a manner to be determined by each Sovereign State may nullify any decision of the Supreme Court or any Law of the United States which they find objectionable.

The United States may not emit any Bill of Credit not redeemable in specie.

Any deficit to the Budget of the United States shall be paid by the Sovereign States to the Federal Government “pro rata” based on their respective populations of the last Official Census. Payment to be remitted within 90 days.

The Post office shall be self supporting and shall receive no Federal subsidy after 1 July 2018.

The initial Federal Poll Tax shall be 25.00 Dollars in specie.

2016. January 28th. The spokesperson for the Governors, the “Chairman” and the Secretary of State jointly announce the passage of the 28th Amendment by three fourths of the State Legislatures which includes all of the provisions requested.

The Secretary of State advises the States that they should set their respective Primaries for the Spring and Summer to give the winners a chance to campaign.

2016. November 8th. Election Day. Turnout is moderate as most States have also adopted a 25.00 Poll Tax for qualification to vote in State and Local Elections. Only the taxpayers appear to be voting.

2016. November 9th. The Republicans are swept into Office led by the Retired General who was educated at West Point, has a Masters Degree in Economics, attended Command and General Staff School as well as the Army War College. The VP is a Retired Navy Admiral. The Senate has 74 Republicans and 26 Democrats. The House has 350 Republicans and 80 Democrats and 5 Independents.

The basic theme of the Republican Campaign was “let us continue the economic progress” and hammered Democrats on their lack of knowledge and lack of understanding of Military Affairs that caused grievous casualties to our brave young men and women.

2017. January 20th. The new President gives a rousing Inaugural speech praising the nation and its hard working people in the most laudatory terms for their “rebuilding the nation that their forefathers had given them.”

He tells the People that the “Chairman” and the “General” have retired and to foster the good spirit and optimism prevailing in America that he has fully Pardoned both men for any and all crimes committed. This is met with thunderous applause across the Nation.

New high speed electrified rail will be brought to the entire Nation. Where this is impractical, new diesel locomotives will provide service. The Cities and Counties should make every effort to provide “light rail” to “tie in” with intercontinental service.

More Nuclear Power will be brought on line.

There is hope and there is happiness among the people.

Well I never, lets play what if scenarios just for the sake of something to do on a cold wet Saturday afternoon.

The message is probably right in so far as it is accepted that Ms Clinton gets in and is able to screw up on the monumental scale that you allege bearing in mind it is in big business's interest to prolong not shorten the war in Iraq.

I personally do not think the American military as it stands will allow politicians to interfere in the manner that they allowed in the Vietnam war, British generals have started to kick and so have some of NATO's as well. The kind of casualties will just not be tolerated by the military they will kick back on the ground big style. There will be a Kitchener figure emerge who like the British Boer War General will take the war to the civilians who allow it to continue.

I take on board what you say about a coup d'etat but do not personally think it could ever happen because that kind of scenario needs absolute blind obedience to the officer corps that the US military just does not have.

For the sake of argument however let us assume that by some fluke the country is really that pissed off with Hillary that it welcomes a coup the value is diluted as the scenarios given take no account of how Europe and the rest of will react to what is effectively a coup d'etat by US military and a refusal of US to honour treaty fiscal or military obligations.

It also works on the scenario that like the Germans in WWII its military will remain totally loyal and immune to the deprivations meted out to their hearth & home by this scenario. As most of the Germans served outside of the Fatherland in WWII and due to a brutally repressive regime were kept largely unaware of the true magnitude of the destruction within the greater Reich, this will not be possible in metropolitan USA quite how will they be kept on side is an unknown.

What will your old enemies China and Russia be doing whilst the US is conveniently imploding? Who will stop the Chinese dragon invading and easily conquering most of the Asian sub continent with or without Russia's acquiescence? What will stop the same in Europe? What will Nato be doing I cannot see France for one standing idly by. It may be de rigour to mock them about Iraq but they are some of the best Military in the world today.

More importantly what will the hot heads in Israel be doing, Masada will pale into insignificance if Israel is nuked they will flatten everything in sight in the middle east as a desperate "this time we do not walk to our deaths alone" reaction.

Yes the US is one of the few economies in the world that could become inward centric almost over night.Your armed forces are not big enough to stamp the authority needed on the country to ensure the kind of martial law required, the drop in living standards will be astronomical and would not be conducive to the populace happily following the martial law.

I do think that the worlds money system will eventually get back to some form of specie linked money but money as we know it will be a thing of the past as plastic takes over.

The leader of the opposition has just come in to piddle on my parade so I am off to do my husbandly duties. We can I hope consider this further at a later date.

Fascinating, Pepe! And possible, much of it. It would almost be worth it all to see the UN leave the US and Hillary forced to do the same!

But, even for so happy an ending, which I may or may not survive to see -- I will not vote for that woman.

I wrote this at the time my wife was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, which, btw, she recovered from fully, and was probably not in the finest frame of mind at the time and as most of us do, I wrote from my perspective.

I do not expect everyone to see things thru my eyes but put it out for folks to reflect upon the endless posibilities, pitfalls and perils that lay before us.
