Post Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators

Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators
By John E. O'Neill
Human Events.com | Friday, October 05, 2007

Recently, at least 41 Democratic Senators, joined by a howling mob including George Soros’ Media Matters, sought to silence Rush Limbaugh because of his reference to “phony” anti war soldiers. Limbaugh’s comments, taken in context, referred to Jesse Macbeth, a confessed and convicted phony, whose faked but graphic war crimes confessions received far wider media notice than his later confession. He had been discharged in boot camp after 40 days of service.

Macbeth follows a grand tradition of fake soldiers whose “war crimes” confessions have been used by the Left to slander the service of our troops. For example, Micah Ian Wright, author of the 2003 anti war best seller "You Back the Attack," was an Army Ranger and Combat veteran feted at USC’s Annenberg School and in media like the Washington Post until he was finally “outed” as a complete fake. Many similar examples of phony “soldiers” used by the Left for war crimes confessions are documented in B.G. Burkett’s bestseller Stolen Valor. Indeed, the problem was so endemic that a Republican Congress in 2005, at the urging of many veterans, passed “The Stolen Valor Act” finally criminalizing activities such as those of Macbeth.

There is no one more injured by phony war crimes charges lodged by phony veterans than veterans themselves whose service is dishonored by the slander. I know. In 1971, in addition to listening to John Kerry from our unit falsely compare our forces in Viet Nam to “the Army of Jhengiz Khan,” I heard Al Hubbard, the president of Kerry’s VVAW, appearing with Kerry in forums such as Meet the Press and Congress confess to war crimes such as bombing innocent villages. Hubbard was an Air Force pilot, who appeared on national television wearing the Distinguished Flying Cross and many other medals while confessing our guilt in Viet Nam. Except he was none of these things, having left the Air Force as a Sergeant, never serving in Viet Nam at all.

Military personnel all over the world thank God for Rush Limbaugh’s stout defense of our military from these fakes. In 1971, there was no one to defend us from the John Kerrys and the Al Hubbards. Indeed, it is the U.S. Senate that is a Potemkin Village. It is a body whose failure to condemn Hubbard’s and Kerry’s 1971 libels is deafening. It is also a place on whose floor active duty soldiers have been compared to the assassins of the Khmer Rouge (Senator Deck Durbin); people who terrorize women and children (Senator Kerry); and (in close proximity) cold blooded murderers (Rep. John Murtha). Hypocrisy and cowardice are terms too kind for those who demean our soldiers without regard to the consequences to them. This conduct when coupled with the effort to silence Limbaugh a stout defender of the troops, can be best described with two words: What phonies.

The sad part about all of this is that those books are still in circulation are still being read and still believed by many who do not know. I had a rather sad argument with a long time friend who now is no longer over the tripe and tosh peddled by Michael Moore and Jesse Macbeth! She has had to back down on Macbeth but refuses to on Moore because he "was right in Bowling for Columbine" this despite even Wikipedia showing he lied and used unethical editing in his film

Such is life and the fools that populate it!

Post Re: Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators

These people are scum. What I'd like to do to them is totally illegal and probbaly unmoral, but thats the way I feel. I served 6 years, HONARABLY, these people who lie and especially people who keep it going like the fat bastard Moore, Soro's, and the likes of Move on and media matters make me puke.
I have not been where our guys and gals are now, but I have been in some questionable situations. I know what its like to hear a AK round pass by. And I never questioned my loyalty to my country or duty. Nor do I do today.
These people have the right to express their views, thats what alot of us served and fought for. What they don't have a right to do is lie and defraud the American public.
This is one of the top things they can do to degrade Vets. It is close to blasphemy in my book.
Unless you have laced up a pair of combat boots, don't tell me how bad it is or how evil the military is, because I will at the least break your jaw. If ya want to brag or wear the medals then sign the paper and take the oath. If not shut the hell up.
Sorry I rambeled but this subject is a raw spot with me.
No matter what I will support our troops until death and after If I can.

NO MISSION TO DIFFACULT NO SACRIFICE TO GREAT DUTY FIRST

Default Re: Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators

I often get upset with false claims agianst soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. I have been in the army for 17+ years and have seen all kinds of soldiers, good and bad. But never have I served with any so bad as the ones are made out to be. I have had many a poor soldier and some times a poor excuse for a human being, but still none that dishonored the service the way Macbeth has. Even the bad soldiers I respect and give them credit because they actually choose to Serve their country. I think there are many ways to serve your country but few ever do more than tell you all the things that are wrong with it. They think this "fixes" it. To stand up and spout does nothing in my opinion. I used to tell my soliders if you come to me with a complaint and a possible fix to that problem, Great! if you come to me witha problem and thats all you have it is simply "*****ing"

Post Re: Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators

The blowhard, windbag Senators sure have their nerve.

From Flopping Aces:

On the floor of the United States Senate, Democrat leader Harry Reid said the following on October 1:

"[L]ast week, Rush Limbaugh went way over the line –– and while we respect his right to say anything he likes, his unpatriotic comments cannot be ignored....he crossed that line by calling our men and women in uniform who oppose the war in Iraq ‘phony soldiers.’"
