Default Inflation Calculator from BLS

Ran across this and thought some may be interested.

It is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and will calculate the dollar or any amount for that matter, and what it would purchase in any year and compare it to any other year.

In 1971, when Nixon took us completely off the gold standard, one dollar would buy what $5.14 buys now. That is a devaluing of the dollar by a tad over 80% since 1971.

In 1934, when FDR stole America's gold, a dollar would buy what $15.54 takes to buy now. That is a devaluation of over 93%.

Here is the link for the calculator.
