The 'red moon' is described only in 2 passages of scripture, in Joel 2 and Rev. 6. In Joel 2 the 'red moon' is described after a battle that is consistent with Gog-magog. In Rev. 6 the 'red moon' is described in conjuction with the destruction of the 6th seal. It is not clear whether the 'red moon' described in scripture is referring to a lunar eclipse or some other celestial or atmospheric event, such as particulate matter being ejected into the atmosphere that would cause the moon to appear red. In any event the red moon would appear to be associated with war and destruction in scripture.

Lunar eclipses are not rare, there is another lunar eclipse in Sept. of this year. But this red moon would appear to be unusual in that it occurs on the first evening of the feast of Purim. The feast of Purim celebrates the events of the Book of Esther, in which the evil Haman, a Persian nobleman, was thwarted in his attempt to destroy the Jewish people. Haman had cast a lot and planned to destroy the Jews on the 13th of Adar, which falls on March 3 of this year. Haman's evil plan was defeated and instead he was killed as were those who attacked the Jews.

It is not clear if this red moon on the feast of Purim really has any significance or not, but the parallels are interesting. Is there a Persian who desires to destroy the Jewish people in the present day? Obviously there is. Has he set a date in which he will attack the Jewish people to destroy them? It is likely that he has as he makes no secret of his desire to destroy the Jews..

There may be a scripture that hints at destruction in Israel on the feast of Purim. Joel 1 discusses an invasion and attack on Israel by a nation in which the fields are burned. Joel 1 : 5 states- 'Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail all you drinkers of wine.'

During the feast of Purim it is stated that 'it is the responsibility of every Jew to become drunk, so drunk that he cannot recognize the evil Haman from the good Mordechai.' Purim is associated with celebration and drunkeness.

We just recently observed the passage of the comet Mcnaught, which was seen throughout the world. The comet was at its brightest in the constellation of Sagittarius, the archer, which would appear to be consistent with the figure described in Rev. 6 at the 1st seal, the rider on the horse with a bow.

We soon will see a red moon, a red moon being associated with war in Joel 2, during the feast of Purim, an event associated with plans to destroy the Jewish people. It may be possible that 'signs in the heavens' will occur prior to significant end time events on earth. Obviously we will not know if these 'signs' truly have any significance until events on earth occur, but the parallels are interesting.

No man knows the time, not even Jesus, but I'm sure he's chomping at the bit.

There is a difference between date setting and knowing the signs and the times. While one cannot say that this or that prophecy will be fulfilled on a date certain, we can speak in generalities that events appear to be moving in a certain direction and may soon be fulfilled. The scripture actually includes some specific periods of time between certain events so that at some point we will be able to 'set dates'. The problem is we do not know the start date for these prophetic time periods so we cannot now know exactly when these periods begin. But i suspect we will know much more soon, probably well before the AOD is set up.

I am not trying to set a date by mentioning the feast of Purim and the lunar eclipse, which i make pretty clear by using the terms 'possible' and 'we will not know'. These 'signs in the heavens' would not necessarily fall on the same day an event occurs but would more likely preceed an event that might occur in the not to distant future. The signs in the heavens would be more of a symbol of what was to come, the real event being described in scripture.

I am attempting to point out that the signs in the heavens are perhaps a little more unusual now, or perhaps i am just watching them more closely. The comet Mcnaught appeared to come out of nowhere and put on quite a spectacular display. For those of us who watch those kind of displays, it was interesting that the comet did reach it's brightest point in the constellation Sagittarius, the archer.

Sagittarius is interesting in that christian astronomers have made note that the figure assigned to this constellation appears much like the description given in Rev. 6 of the first seal, the rider on the horse with a bow. As this figure is the first described in the sequence of the seals, trumpets and bowls, one could conclude that a 'sign' in this constellation might signal that this event was about to be fulfilled and the sequence was about to begin.

The comet also ran parallel to the constellation 'Ara', which is pictured as an altar upside down with it's flames pointing toward the earth. From a certain perspective the comet could be seen as a ball of fire coming from the altar. This also is described in Rev. 8 as an event that occurs during the 'time of silence', when an angel takes fire from the altar and hurls it on the earth. This event precedes the sounding of the first trumpet and the destruction that follows.

Seeing the 'rider' and the 'altar' together in the same time period could suggest that the seals and trumpets occur in parallel, rather than sequentially, the trumpets do not follow the seals but occur at the same time.

These signs by themselves may not appear to be too much until one considers the events occurring presently on earth. It does appear that a covenant with the many could be signed at any time, if it has not been signed already. The world is focused on the ME and Israel and the need for peace. The status of Jerusalem and the west bank are again in question. The EU is rising in prominence and the enemies of Israel are also gaining strength and forming alliances.

This would appear to be consistent with what we see in scripture, Jerusalem is becoming a burdensome stone, everyone wants to divide Israel's land, the enemies of Israel form alliances similar to those described in Ezekiel, Europe grows in power and influence under a 10 nation confederacy, and all call for 'peace and safety'. The stage is being set, the pieces are in place, the 'rider' may already be on his horse.

Then we have a lunar eclipse, a 'red moon' on the exact day of the feast of Purim. The 'red moon' in scripture would appear to be associated with war and destruction or it's aftermath. Events on Purim would suggest a parallel to those who wish to destroy Israel, just as Haman did.

This also is consistent with what we see in the world today. The question is not if Israel will be attacked again, but when. Many believe it will be this year, hence the rush by many to arrive at a 'peace' deal. And there is a Persian leader who has made no secret of his desire to wipe out Israel, to destroy the Jewish people just as Haman wished to do.

And what the 'red moon' and Purim are associated with would be consistent with what is described next in the seals and the trumpets. The second seal describes war and a rider that takes peace from the earth and bears a large sword. This could be consistent with a coming nuclear war in the ME that draws the rest of the world in.

The first trumpet describes hail and fire mixed with blood and 1/3 of the earth being burned up. This also would be consistent with war, especially nuclear war. And the description of 'hail and fire' is suspiciously similar to 'hailstones and burning sulfur' rained down at Gog-magog in Ezekiel. 38.

Obviously i may be reading to much into this but i believe i see a pattern emerging. Although i cannot set an exact date i do not think we have much time before troublesome times begin. The signs in the heavens would appear to suggest that prophecy is about to be fulfilled.

I never pay any attention to these things because, when you look back through 2,000 of history, all the prophecies have been believed to be fulfilled numerous times by different groups of people.

I think the important thing is to live as if the end times are near for you (universal you) because we will all face the end of time individually.

I don't forsee anyone facing or seeing the end of time, just death for now. Time can't end, it's what that clock on the wall measures, and that thing just keeps going around in circles And sometimes at work it just stops for no reason at all.
