Kinda makes me think the new party animal for the Dems should be an ostrich

The country elected Bush/Cheney for good or bad. Any coup would be a disaster and against everything this country stands for. Why not just set up a dictatorship.

Bush has caused his own problems but he will have too deal with them and we will as well until Jan 2009.

I agree. I don't like the word "coup" when we are a democratic republic and elected Bush/Cheney not once, but twice. Manipulating things like this would be condemned if the Liberals did it.

Default Re: Conservatives Arrange A Bloodless Coup d'état Get Rid of Bush and Cheney

Quote:
Main Entry: 1coup
Pronunciation: 'kOp
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, to strike, from Anglo-French couper -- more at COPE
chiefly Scottish : OVERTURN, UPSET

Main Entry: 2coup
Pronunciation: 'kü
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural coups /'küz/
Etymology: French, blow, stroke -- more at COPE
1 : a brilliant, sudden, and usually highly successful stroke or act
2 : COUP D'etat

Main Entry: coup d'état
Variant(s): or coup d'etat /"kü-(")dA-'tä, 'kü-(")dA-", -d&-/
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural coups d'état or coups d'etat /-'tä(z), -"tä(z)/
Etymology: French, literally, stroke of state
: a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics; especially : the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group
I'm not sure if I agree with the wording either, but it doesn't seem to contrary to simple definition. In colloquial terms, it is very far off the mark.

May I humbly suggest, Miss Katie, when our nation was established, the founders gave us a 'Constitutional Republic' that elected it's Representatives and President and VP by a fair and democratic vote. Starting with the criminal, Mr Lincoln, that has been slowly eroded and changed by almost every President since. The Seventeenth Amendment effectively put the idea of a Constitutional Republic in the grave once and for all. Since Wilson, FDR, and most of the turkeys that have passed through The White House over the last few decades, we are a far cry from what our founders intended.

I believe the erosion started with the Sedition and treason act.
