DEFENSE TRAINING FOR KIDS HALTED

Well, I guess we all just KNEW this was coming.

A school district in Texas hired a firm to teach their teachers and students what to do if an armed intruder came into their class. Unlike "conventional wisdom," in which the victims are told to submit willingly and do whatever they're told before being shot in the back of the head, this training program urged students not to be passive, but rather to "fight back" and attack the attacker with everything they've got, including "swarming" all over him in order to bring him down.

Naturally, somebody at the Victims 'R Us office got their panties in a twist over the program, and the school district has now cancelled that aspect of the training. Jeff Carlton of the Associated Press reported this week: "A suburban Fort Worth school district that has been teaching students to attack a gunman if he invades a classroom said Wednesday that it has halted the program."

We can all sleep better again tonight knowing that our kids are once again being taught to quietly and without a fuss take getting shot to death while cowering under their desks. Warms your heart, doesn't it?

You knew this had to happen because schools aren't allowing tag and dodgeball to be played either.

I wonder if it's ever occurred to anybody to test the 'shooters,' the ones who come in and shoot up the schools, to see if they had been on Ritilin or some other drug. They put boys on this drug if they become bored in class - and yes, I know they need parental permissin, but the recommendation usually comes from the school.

Ritilin destroys the boys, but has such a study been made? They don't have to take a blood sample - just look at the records. Boys who appear bored or "over active" in class are drugged. This could be one of the base causes of this anger, hatred - whatever it is that makes them take weapons to school and shoot the teachers and other students.

There has to be a reason for it -i t never happened until the current generation.

And I do think teachers should be trained and armed - high school has become a dangerous place.
