Muslim leader blames women for sex attacks

I was off to bed, but I HAD to post this... His remarks are the 'cop-out' rapists use. "If she was not in that dark alley, I'd not have raped her."

My pissed level has reached it's max for the day, and it's only 2am....

THE nation's most senior Muslim cleric has blamed immodestly dressed women who don't wear Islamic headdress for being preyed on by men and likened them to abandoned "meat" that attracts voracious animals.

In a Ramadan sermon that has outraged Muslim women leaders, Sydney-based Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali also alluded to the infamous Sydney gang rapes, suggesting the attackers were not entirely to blame.
While not specifically referring to the rapes, brutal attacks on four women for which a group of young Lebanese men received long jail sentences, Sheik Hilali said there were women who "sway suggestively" and wore make-up and immodest dress ... "and then you get a judge without mercy (rahma) and gives you 65 years".
"But the problem, but the problem all began with who?" he asked.
The leader of the 2000 rapes in Sydney's southwest, Bilal Skaf, a Muslim, was initially sentenced to 55 years' jail, but later had the sentence reduced on appeal.
In the religious address on adultery to about 500 worshippers in Sydney last month, Sheik Hilali said: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?
"The uncovered meat is the problem."
The sheik then said: "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred."
He said women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men.
"It is said in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement (igraa)."

It's called... Don't tell him this closely guarded secret. Self control brother. Damn, must die to get laid, or take it on earth and give cause for rape. Go back to your cave old man.

There is never an excuse for rape - even with a prostitute. Some things are just not up for "reasons." But this give us the idea of why women are treated as they are in Islam. Mohammad had no self-control and never recommended it for his followers. Except the women.

That used to be the way in America and it's only been rather recently in our history that this has changed - legally at least. It's still the belief in many that the women somehow asked for it. We've got some Fundamentalists around here who have said that women who dress suggestively, go out drinking, etc are to blame and it wouldn't have happened if they didn't.

Must be hell to be around a justice system that treats all, even women, equally and holds all, even men, accountable for their actions.

So, let me get this straight....the 'learned' Sheik just put Islamic men's thinking ability and self-control on the level of feral cats.

This would be funny if it weren't for the fact that women are being stoned to death (in this day and age) because of this kind of stone-age thinking.

Maybe these Muslim women, who are enjoying the fruits of freedom to speak out enjoyed because they are living in the West (let them try this in an Islamic run country) will keep that new found voice and speak about the hijab.

1) That's always been a cop out. Rape is about power, rarely about sex.

2) Arabs have never wanted to be held responsible for their own actions.

3) Stop insulting cats.

4) I doubt thinking is involved in anything islamic.

5) Perhaps the muslim women should be more inclined to use sharp knives rather than voice. Removing the head muslim men currently use might force them to use the one on their shoulders.
