Is the US capable of Civil War?

With the deep seated hate that grows every year has the US grown beyond the possibility of civil war?

Maybe the large corporations would be a help in this, Scott, but I would say no, we won't fight one another again in the forseeable future. Anything can happen, of course, but with family members taken from their home areas and scattered all over this country, it seems to me that fighting between the states again is not apt to happen.

Oddly, I find the old Civil War (War Between the States, so called) is still not out of people's hearts and minds. And, judging from at least one northern friend of mine, the venom is as much or more intense from the north as from the south. Even so, such a division again isn't apt to happen. There is just too much love of Old Glory, too much pride of country - and, granted too darn much politics! But can politics separate us? I sure hope not!

With the illegals coming in, that is more apt to cause a problem than any in-fighting among ourselves, I think.

Under the current conditions, I would have said no or don't know, but the sad fact is, I believe, one is coming. It will not be such as that of The Northern War of Aggression, but one of the haves will vs the havenots. As the currency collapses due to the horrendous deficits and staggering debt, which in a few short years, depending on whether the Illegal Alien problem is solved, or not, the unfunded debt will steadily climb to about 80 Trillion Dollars. ( Say that real fast 3 or 4 times in a row ) As the tax base begins to dry up ( lack of money, foreclosures on the mausoleums being sold as homes, the lack of gas or money, or both to fuel the monsterous SUVs, the increase in the cost of maintaining the power grids, it will become evident the poor, mostly recipients of welfare and the Illegals will be cut from the Government Teat, and they will not like it. Hunger and deprivation will not be a condition they will likely care to endure. The war will then be on. The havenots, having been conditioed to government taking care of them, will riot and rampage, willing to take by force, if necessary, that which they consider their due.

It will not be pretty, but bloodier than Lincoln's War could ever have been.

Make no mistake, it's coming.

Yes I am not so sure it would be the traditional civil war. Perhaps uprising would be a better term. We are stable at the moment but I can see some very serious problems in our current makeup, including deep seated political hate.

That's a grim picture, Mr. Shooterman - and it could happen. I have often wondered what on earth LBJ was thinking of to push that huge welfare program on the backs of the tax payers, while cutting families into pieces and destroying them. Yes, it will have to end; there is no way it can continue as it is, and it shouldn't continue. But waves of criminals will pour out because of it - out of their ghettoes and into the countryside. I don't know that it's what is typically meant by the term "Civil War," but it's moot, isn't it.

Yes - and maybe it will be the tax payers who rebel first. Only what will they do? Voting will not be enough - kind of scary, isn't it.
