Default U.s. Plans Sale Of Aircraft Parts To Iran

Have you lost your mind!!!!? First the US sales fighters to Paks, now you fellas are giving support to iran for aircrafts?

I don't care if it's an 'air bus'.... it could be logged with 300 souls, and have 4 with the rest of the weight in nuclear explosives.... You do NOT need a 'missle' to drive a warhead to a destination...

Quote:
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States, amid its campaign for international sanctions, plans to sell aircraft parts to Iran. The Bush administration has notified Congress that the United States would export parts for U.S.-origin aircraft to Iran. Officials said the State Department and Commerce Department have recommended such a move in an effort to improve Iranian air safety. The recommendation has been relayed to the Treasury Department, which bans all but humanitarian transactions with Iran. Officials said State and Commerce have designated a company for the aircraft spare parts export license.State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the license, approved on Sept. 29, would enable the export of spare and replacement parts and technical data for the repair and overhaul of a "limited number" of U.S.-made turbine engines on Airbus aircraft. McCormack said these aircraft have been operated by Iran Air, which has sustained several crashes over the last four years.

Story
Though I'm STILL completely against it, at least we're talking about commercial airliner engines and why are WE selling Airbus engine parts???
I don't care if they are "American" engines, Airbus is made in Europe
THIS needs a whole lot more investigation, something just doesn't wash here? There's a very interesting footnote at the bottom of that story.

When I was in the Gulf, we had a major concern because Iran had just purchased a Chinese deisel submarine which THEY had got from Russia. How ever so nice.

What made things even more tense was the day I was out on the fantail and this plane came in very low, then popped up over the aft deck of the carrier. No warning, no nothing. It was a P-3 Orion ( a plane we sold them) with an Iranian flag painted on the tail section. Our buddies......

I took a little trip through Google and aside from a 49 page governmental report concerning sales of parts (that may contain something about this in it somewhere?), I can't find anything that doesn't link back to the original story?
Do you suppose they would rather that us little folks didn't know too much about this?
Naah, that couldn't be it, our government is always forthcoming, right?

Don't we always sell whatever our enemy needs to the enemy? It seems to be the thing to do these days.
