Palestine Palestinian to fight study ban in Israel

You see this is what I find strange,

1. Palestine does NOT recognise Israel
2. Israel allows Palestinians to study at their Universities.
3. Human rights organisations are up in arms because Israel is "punishing" innocent Palestinians.

4. Why dont the human Rights organisations criticise the Palestinians for failing to recognise the Israelis as humans with a right to exist in their own country.?

Palestinian to fight study ban in Israel

Saturday October 14th 2006

AN ISRAELI ban on Palestinians studying in the Jewish State is being challenged by a 29-year-old woman from the West Bank who has been barred from completing a molecular chemistry PhD at Jerusalem's Hebrew University.

The Israeli High Court will sit next week to hear a case brought on behalf of Sawsan Salameh which will argue that she poses no security threat to the Jewish State.

"I was shocked and angry when I first heard that my application for a travel pass had been rejected," she said from her family home in Anata, a small Palestinian community in the West Bank, located just a few miles east of Jerusalem.

Human rights groups argue that the student ban is part of an ever-tightening Israeli web of restrictions and controls on innocent Palestinians.

"It's not that we are barring her from study," said Shlomo Dror, spokesman for the Israeli co-ordinator of government activities. "The point is that every Palestinian who comes to Israel is some kind of security threat and our priority is to reduce that risk for the Israeli state."

Students already enrolled on courses will be allowed to complete them but new ones will be kept out.

She should bring it up to her own govt. as their views are the reason she was turned away.

It's their country and their university. If they don't want to allow a foreign national in, that is, or should be, their right.

[sarcasm] Why doesn't she go to the university that her own government, full of concern for their own citizens, is providing with all that foreign aid.
