Default Teachers to carry guns???

I'm not sure this is a solution. What do you think?

Wis. lawmaker wants teachers to carry guns. He cites Israel, Thailand; school official says problems are not that bad

Updated: 37 minutes ago

MADISON, Wis. - In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a state legislator says he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.
Rep. Frank Lasee, a Republican, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.
"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said. "Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."

Only if the teachers are extensively trained! But even then, a couple of teens could get the gun away from a teacher.

Under current Federal Laws, it's illegal to have a Privately Owned Weapon on any school grounds. I don't see how this will work...

I don't see how it would work either. However, we had teachers who were former military and others who were in the National Guard. They are qualified to carry a weapon.

I wonder if any of the teachers/staff at the schools where there were shootings were armed, if any kids would have been saved. If an adult in the Amish school had been armed, those little girls might not have been executed or wounded.

Default Re: Teachers to carry guns???

I would have to say the opperative word is allow. It should not be manditory in any way. If they do ellect to carry then they should be required to complete an extensive training course. The weapon should be carried on their person and not left in a brief case, purse, or anything else that is not with then at all times.

The question of whether or not a teacher with a gun could stop one of these tragedies from happening is a total unknown. But I can guarantee that an unarmed teacher has little or no chance of ever stopping an incident from happening.

I would want my daughters teacher to have a chance at stopping an attacker. I vote for the teachers right to arm themselves.

I would agree with Conlor and Headhunter about the laws establishment and for the teachers to get an extensive training in use of handgun. They should have a training before the use of handgun. But also, with mental problems and insanity in this world, we can't guarantee that that would be extablished by the federal government or followed properly by the people in the communities.
Very interesting topic

I cant go along with this idea. There are just too many examples of why it wont work also you got to figure in the tone it sets for the kids. I have found that a tube of Super Glue is all you need to control a class.
